Local startups shine as $1M pitch competition comes to Darwin

The most promising young tech companies in the Northern Territory will compete for $1 million investment at the StartCon Pitch for $1 Million competition in Darwin on 9 October.

More than 20 local startups will get the chance to win $1 million backing by Australian venture capital firm Right Click Capital at the StartCon Pitch for $1 Million competition in Darwin, hosted by StartCon, Australia’s largest startup conference, expo and entrepreneur community.


The StartCon Pitch for $1 Million competitions are being held in partnership Right Click Capital in more than a dozen cities across the Asia-Pacific region, home to more than 4 billion people. It is the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.


The next StartCon Pitch for $1 Million competition, dubbed Croc Pitch, will be held in partnership with the Darwin Innovation Hub, which will host the event at its Smith Street base in Darwin. More than 20 startups from the local region will battle it out for the chance to compete at the StartCon Pitch for $1 Million finals at StartCon 2018 in Sydney at the end of November.


“Darwin is becoming a breeding ground for new innovation in Australia, as places like the Darwin Innovation Hub demonstrate,” StartCon CEO Cheryl Mack said. “We want to make sure we shine a light on what the Northern Territory has to offer the rest of the world.


“The Darwin StartCon Pitch for $1 Million competition could prove to be the breakthrough moment for impressive local startups. The pitch event not only offers the chance to win $1 million investment, but also provides local companies with the chance to get investors interested in what they’ve got to offer,” Mack said.


The StartCon Pitch for $1 Million event in Darwin will be held at the Darwin Innovation Hub, Level 1, Paspalis Centrepoint, 48-50 Smith Street Mall, Darwin. The time for the media briefing will be 9AM for a 9:15AM start. The main event will kick off at 9:45AM. Tickets can be purchased here.
