Twenty10 to hold community Street Fete and Show Ponies Art Exhibition on 20 October

This Twenty10 Day (so-called because it’s the 20th of October, or 20/10) Twenty10 incorporating GLCS NSW will be holding the first annual community Street Fete on Chippen St, Chippendale alongside the Show Ponies Art Exhibition adjacent in the Twenty10 building.
The Chippen Street Fete will offer stalls from community organisations, local makers, vintage and new independently made clothes, local food, coffee, live entertainment for all ages and a bunch of classic street fete sideshow alley interactive fun and games. The Show Ponies Art Exhibition will showcase art from young LGBTIQA+ artists inside the Twenty10 drop-in space and offices.
The Chippen Street Fete will celebrate the local Sydney community of makers, artists, and entertainers, with an emphasis on those who identify as LGBTIQA+. Food and drink will be available for purchase, along with local and vintage art and fashion.
The day will also feature many traditional street fete activities and will provide a fun day for the whole rainbow family.
“Twenty10 offers a wide range of social support services for young LGBTIQA+ people” said Co Executive Director Jain Moralee, “ and we are super excited to expand our creative workshop opportunities this year with the support of our funding partners, and provide space for young folks to connect through creativity and self expression whilst learning from some incredible local artists”.
There are three cash prizes available to all participants, including an Audience Selection award to be voted on at the exhibition opening. The art workshop facilitators will join Twenty10 Board Director James Emmett and NAVA General Manager and artist Penelope Benton on our panel of judges for the Show Ponies cash prizes.
The exhibition will showcase artworks by LGBTIQA+ artists aged 12 - 25 who live in New South Wales. Many of the works on show will be available for purchase, so we encourage art collectors to come ready to discover some emerging artists.
