What advice has the Geelong local got for aspiring business owners?

“Ask yourself the question- what do you value and how can you offer quality and value to your patrons. What do you stand for? For example, in our salon, we supporting Australia made hair products that promote organic ingredients and wild harvesting. I am passionate about sustainability, so we have introduced a recycling station for customer’s De Lorenzo product bottles.”

Valuing your guests with kindness, consistency and updating your training, so guests know when they visit they have access to the most current techniques and hair technician styles is another way to be outstanding says Mariesa.

“Be prepared for growth! Your business needs to be scaleable. What happens when things go well? The moment you cannot keep up, you can potentially lose flexibility and customer service can wane. This is avoidable by having a plan in place for increased business” says the Geelong hairdresser.

Know your strengths and weaknesses is another important aspect, she says. “Do you procrastinate? Maybe you are afraid of success or failure? Whatever it is invest in a reputable person to help you educate your way out of habits that might be holding you back.”

When you identify your strength and those core values- show people they exist in your everyday language, habits and social media. Show the world who you are and what you stand for with those core values, and your business will shine!
