Husband and wife duo create timesaving invention

Announcement posted by Modern Currency 15 Oct 2018

Melbourne based entrepreneurs Glen and Julie-Anne Mayer have created the ultimate timesaving invention for parents with young kids.

Enter Subo – the world’s first non-squeezable food bottle, enabling children aged six months to four years to feed themselves without the risk of a squeezey mess. Gone are the days of food spillage on the floor, kitchen bench, car seats and clothing! Now you can feed babies and kids quick and healthy meals, whether at home or on-the-go.

So, how does Subo work?

“The food sits on top of a platform that automatically moves up as the food is dispensed directly into the child’s mouth,” says Glen. “This is done through a one-way air valve at the bottom of the bottle, enabling air into the tube to push the platform up. Subo is quick and easy to fill, and the only way for the food to come out is to sip on the soft, silicone spout.”

The product can also be easily disassembled for cleaning purposes or to refill. Foods like pureed fruit or vegetables, smoothies, yogurt and Weet-Bix are perfect for Subo.

Subo launched in late 2016. “The market responded really well,” says Glen. “It seemed most parents had the same experience with mess from the squeezey and disposable food pouches, and wanted to try something different.”

In June this year, Subo received a significant backing from Channel 10’s Shark Tank judge, Steve Baxter, who chose to invest in Subo’s, “incredible” design. Steve saw the potential for Subo’s growth, noting, “Three hundred thousand babies are born in Australia every year.” Since Shark Tank aired, the Subo website had 87,000 website views in 24 hours and doubled their 1st year sales in less than a week.

With a substantial increase in sales and interest from overseas retailers and distributors – the expansion opportunity for Subo is endless as they enter a new and exciting territory.
