Emerson appoints Hatcher as National Channel Manager

Announcement posted by Vertiv 02 Aug 2006

Emerson Network Power Australia has appointed Martin Hatcher as its new National Channel Manager. Hatcher will be responsible for all channel activities in Australia and New Zealand for Emersons Liebert range of Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) products.
Commenting on his channel experience with Alcatel Australia, Hatcher says the perceived lack of importance of power protection for converged networks, particularly with the massive growth in IP telephony, is a real opportunity for resellers because it leaves a massive gap that has to be filled.
In my experience power protection has never been a major theme for vendors and resellers of IP telephony, says Hatcher.
Most resellers dont think about power as integral to designing converged networks; at most theyre interested in the power draw of the equipment but dont take into account the effects of a power outage on the infrastructure.
Given that IP networks are today tethered to data networks, smart resellers will recognise the opportunities availing themselves with the IP boom, given that unlike the days when the phone grid was powered by the communication system, loss in power means no data and no voice effectively no business.
Another driver for Hatcher will be bolstering Emerson Network Powers already extensive channel infrastructure in the country.
Earlier this year we signed LAN Systems as our major national distributor, and that move has had a positive ripple effect for the company throughout the channel. Id like to emphasise the positives with all of our resellers by way of new promotions and training programs designed to build on what weve achieved in the past few years.
Apart from LAN Systems, Emerson is carried by J Mills Distribution, Power Quality Consultants, TecVic, SEMS, and Proactive, and is also represented in New Zealand by Dove Electronics.
Hatcher joins Emerson with more than a decades experience at Alcatel in various channel management and strategy roles. A qualified electrical engineer, Hatcher also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree.
Bob Daniel, Managing Director, Emerson Network Power Australia, says Hatchers combination of technical and commercial skills, and his experience at all levels of IP telephony development and distribution, is a strong fit with Emersons drive in the local market.
Weve been pushing hard for resellers to recognise the benefits and applications of our advanced power protection technology for converged networks, and Im delighted to have Martins experience on board to help us lead this initiative, says Daniel.
