AIIA announces Kishwar Rahman as General Manager of Policy and Advocacy

Sydney, Australia – 22 October 2018 -- ​​The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), the peak member body for the ICT industry, announces Kishwar Rahman as General Manager of Policy and Advocacy.

Reporting to the CEO, Board and AIIA members, Ms Rahman’s role is to drive the continued expansion of AIIA’s policy and advocacy footprint in the ICT sector. Based in AIIA’s Canberra office, she brings over 20 years of legal, technology and policy experience to the role from previously held leadership positions across a range of public and private sector organisations.

Prior to joining AIIA, Ms Rahman was Executive Director at KR Digital, a company that specialises in delivering complex procurement solutions and digital products, and advises on the application of blockchain technology and AI to procurement activities. She has also held the positions of Program Lead for Strategic Project Development at the National Disability Insurance Agency and Policy Lead for the Australian Government’s Digital Marketplace, in addition to her tier 1 law firm and management consultancy experience.

Commenting on the appointment, AIIA CEO Rob Fitzpatrick, said: “As technology continues to transform every aspect of our lives, the AIIA’s mission is to work with industry and government to help shape policy and encourage investment and collaboration in Australia with a strategic focus on skills relating to jobs of the future, innovation and the digitisation of government services.

Ms. Rahman leads a team working across a broad range of areas both collaborating with government and influencing policy relating to the R&D tax incentive and 457 visas, the Assistance and Access Bill, digital transformation, advocating for open data, data privacy and security, and ICT procurement reform.
