For more than 60 years the Langford Family Holdings group has proudly manufactured in Victoria.  Currently managed by third generation family members, supported by knowledgeable and skilled staff.  Australian Barbell Company began in 1942 as a hobby in the Moorabbin garage of Mr Bill Pole.  A move to Clarendon St, South Melbourne followed after the war.  A mate, Roy Langford, manufactured the barbells and dumbbells for Bill at his small engineering business (Roysen) in the back of a mechanics workshop in Black Rock, before moving to a factory in Cheltenham in the 1950's.

Australian Barbell Company slowly began to establish a reputation as a manufacturer of dumbbells and barbells.  Roysen Engineering continued to manufacture for Australian Barbell Company along with machining components for many other manufacturers, including the truck and motor vehicle industries.

In 1989 Robert Langford (Roy's son) and his wife Denise, purchased Australian Barbell Company as part if it's diversification plan. The company evolved quickly and became Australia's leading specialist supplier of weightlifting and strength training equipment.

Australian Barbell Company is now owned and operated by the third generation of the Langford family from a large manufacturing & warehousing plant in Mordialloc, Melbourne, Australia.

The company supplies an extensive product range to a diverse national customer base including commercial gymnasiums, franchised gymnasium chains, elite training venues, personal training studios, schools, the defence force, crossfit boxes, Olympic & Powerlifting clubs, home users and national sporting clubs. The business also proudly exports to countries including Indonesia, Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore. Australian Barbell Company is committed to Australian made manufacturing providing a competitive edge over many of its industry rivals.
