INDUSTRY DISRUPTER – Innovative Mobile Coverage Solution for Buildings Up to 46,000sqm

Announcement posted by Powertec Telecommunications 26 Nov 2018

Cel-Fi QUATRA is set to revolutionise the Australian mobile coverage industry by providing an innovative, affordable connectivity solution for ‘middleprise’ buildings.
Cel-Fi QUATRA is an Active DAS Hybrid that provides uniform, high quality mobile signal throughout a building, scalable to the size needed and a coverage lifeline for businesses in middleprise spaces, from 900sqm to 46,000sqm.

Cel-Fi QUATRA is a self-configuring system built on award-winning Cel-Fi Smart Signal Boosterâ technology and differentiates itself from typical DAS systems by cutting lengthy installation times to a matter of days by eliminating much of the complexity associated with delivering in-building coverage.

QUATRA can be deployed within days (compared to months, typical of other solutions) and at a price point that meets the middleprise budget.

Australian-born, telecommunications distributor, Powertec Telecommunications, is releasing this ‘connect and go’ option, which is now approved for use on an Australian carrier, with the plan to roll out to other mobile operators in the near future.

Unlike analog boosters and passive DAS technology, the all-digital QUATRA is guaranteed network safe, delivers a cellular signal that is up to 1000x stronger, uses CAT5e cabling and Power over Ethernet, with no signal attenuation right to the perimeter of a building.

“This is an incredible leap forward in choice for the ‘middleprise’ sector, where an expensive DAS solution was previously the only option,” said Powertec’s Product Manager, Paul Boyce.

“We anticipate that this solution could offer an eighty percent cost saving for various sectors, including medical, education, retail, hospitality and more.”

Boyce added, “Cel-Fi QUATRA was developed by our partner Nextivity and has been successfully deployed in the US since 2016.

“It is a cost-effective and high-performance Active DAS Hybrid solution and is in a class of its own when it comes to solving indoor mobile coverage challenges in environments up to 46,000m².”

Some of the key benefits of the Cel-Fi QUATRA solution include enhanced 3G and 4G mobile coverage for voice, faster data speeds and prevention of dropped or missed calls.

While an accredited installer is required to deploy the hardware solution, the use of CAT5e cable to connect the system’s components ensures a quick deployment time, compared to anything else in market.

“The commercial mid-market has long lacked a truly affordable, enterprise-class indoor coverage solution – until now,” said Mr Boyce. “Cel-Fi QUATRA bridges the gap for any company wanting to eliminate the cost, complexity, and time involved with the installation of full-blown active DAS systems.”

What sets Cel-Fi QUATRA apart is its scalability, with customisable options to cover one floor, up to an entire high-rise building and also connects to the Cel-Fi WAVE Platform for remote monitoring and management.

While the middleprise sector is the most obvious beneficiary of Cel-Fi QUATRA technology, nursing homes, body corporates, industrial businesses, residential buildings, hotels, and more will now have ready access to enhanced mobile connectivity.

Cel-Fi QUATRA was born out of the frustration of spotty cellular coverage, poor voice quality, dropped calls, and dead zones that traditionally plague businesses in middleprise buildings.

“Mobile connectivity is critical to almost all facets of commercial activity these days, and Powertec has spent the past 23 years deploying solutions that enable faster, easily scalable options for enterprises,” said Mr Boyce.

“We believe Cel-Fi QUATRA will be a disruptive innovation to the industry, with the new technology helping to bring coverage to the masses at an affordable cost. Many of the traditional DAS players have even expressed a strong interest in adding the product to their tool box.”

Powertec Partner Installer, Cellular Asset Management, recently used the Cel-Fi QUATRA solution to solve poor mobile coverage in a heritage listed building in Sydney.

“Solving the issue of poor mobile phone coverage was made faster and easier using the Cel-Fi QUATRA product,” said Douglas Murdoch, Technical Authority at Cellular Asset Management.

“We found the product easier to install than other solutions and the software allows us to remotely monitor its performance.”

“It’s an ideal solution for small and medium sized businesses and we can see it being installed in a large number of locations.”

Cel-Fi QUATRA was built with the integrator and installer in mind.

Setup begins with planning, with installers capturing basic environmental information to estimate the list of equipment needed. The solution also incorporates cloud-based software (Cel-Fi WAVE) that enables installers and mobile operators to offer a variety of SLAs to customers.
