ART LOVERS UNLOCK THEIR “VAULTS” OF TREASURES FOR SALE AT TASSIE NORTHERN MIDLANDS EVENT

Announcement posted by Northern Midlands Events - Tasmania 05 Feb 2019

LONGFORD, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. 6 FEBRUARY 2019 – – Art lovers have been scouring through their collections to reveal their treasures for auction and sale at a new event to be held at Longford in February.

The Northern Midlands Pre-loved Art Exhibition will be held at Longford Memorial Hall, 55 Wellington Street, with a gala Valentine’s Day cocktail party launch and auction on Thursday 14 February, plus a free 2-day exhibition and art sales on Friday 15 and Saturday 16.

The Pre-loved Art Exhibition will be the first event organised by the newly incorporated Northern Midlands Events Association, affectionately known as “NorMiE”.

People wanting to exhibit their pre-loved artworks needed to pre-register their interest to ensure that an interesting and diverse range of paintings, jewellery, sculpture and pottery will be displayed at the event.

The exhibition will range from internationally recognised artist Michael McWilliams, to pieces of unknown provenance; and all from the undiscovered home collections of people across Northern Tasmania.

The Pre-loved Art Exhibition will begin with an exclusive Valentine’s Day launch cocktail party on Thursday February 14 from 6.30 to 8.30pm.  This event will include bar drinks and gourmet finger food, a first chance to view the exhibition, and an auction of selected pieces from a wide range of famous and unknown artists.  Cost to attend the cocktail party is $25 per person.  Bookings are essential via email at eventsnmass@gmail.com or phone 6332-2500 during business hours.

The free public exhibition and sales of the remaining artworks will run each day on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 February from 10.00am to 4.00pm.

NorMiE Chairman, Ian Goninon, said that the Association was created to provide a focal point for key events it organises, plus to provide support for other events put forward by businesses and the community in the Northern Midlands.

“NorMiE can provide support for community and business event organisers, such as public liability insurance and assistance with approvals and permits, which are often the biggest logistical issues preventing great ideas from becoming a reality,” Mr Goninon said.

“The aim of NorMiE as the coordinating body, will be to hold more and better events to attract and retain visitors throughout the year across the Northern Midlands,” he said.
