SYDNEY, Australia, 11 FEBRUARY 2019BOOST MOBILE, a leading youth telco brand, has today welcomed key additions to its expansive sponsorship portfolio across the Australian sporting landscape, with the announcement that it has signed on as the Exclusive Telecommunications Partner for the World Surf League (WSL) and its Australia-based events, while also welcoming home-grown professional world tour surfer Sally Fitzgibbons as a brand ambassador. In the action-sports space, Boost Mobile has also signed on as official telco sponsor for Nitro Circus and their YOU GOT THIS Stadium Tour taking place around the country this month.

“Surfing, MotorSport and action sports have always resonated with us and our customers, and we are proud to partner both with the WSL and Nitro Circus across their Australian events. We’ve worked with some of the best sporting organisations and sportspeople in their fields to help take these sports to new heights and give Boost customers exclusive access to some of the coolest content and events that the sports have to offer,” said Peter Adderton, Founder of Boost Mobile.

Boost Mobile has a long and proud history in supporting Australian surfing, with today’s announcement about the World Surfing League and Sally Fitzgibbons coming off the back of  its recent commitment as Title Sponsor for the opening event of the 2019 Women’s Championship Tour (CT) on the Gold Coast (the Boost Mobile Pro).

As the Exclusive Telecommunications Sponsor of the WSL in Australia, Boost Mobile will have the opportunity to bring the action to Australian sports fans whether they are at the events or enjoying the action on their phones. As a part of the initial 12-month sponsorship, Boost Mobile will have a strong presence at the Boost Mobile Pro CT in Snapper Rocks this coming April, while Boost Mobile customers will be able to access specially designed merchandise developed in collaboration with the World Surf League.

Sally Fitzgibbons is one of the most recognisable faces in surfing and Australian sport. Now a 10-year veteran of the World Surfing Tour, she has won almost every accolade possible in her sport, including 10 WSL World Tour Championship wins and three runner-up finishes to the World Title (2010, 2011, 2012).

“Boost Mobile Pro will be the first Championship Tour event to offer equal prize money to both men and women, and we are furthering that news by committing more broadly to the World Surf League in Australia to enable us to bring our consumers content from the tour in its entirety,” said Jason Haynes, General Manager Boost Mobile Australia.

“We are proud to welcome Sally Fitzgibbons to the Boost Mobile family. We have known Sally for a long time, we were involved early in her career and followed her journey ever since. She has conquered some of the best in the world while never losing her Aussie pride or sense of fun and adventure. Sally like most surfers love to travel up and down the coasts of Australia in search for the best waves and adventure. Boost Mobile is on the Full 4G Telstra Mobile Network so therefore Boost Mobile is the perfect fit for any surfer that wants to remain connected.  Sally can help get this message out to fellow surfers and beach goers around the country.

“I'm super excited to be partnering with Boost Mobile, they are a company all about empowering people around Australia to go out and have an adventure and share their stories along the way from wherever they are, which is so true to what I do in travelling on the World Surf League tour. I was connected with Boost Mobile as a grom and now for us to reconnect at this stage of my career is such a natural fit,” said Sally Fitzgibbons.

“I base myself on the South Coast of NSW and I am always adventuring off the beaten track for the best waves, so being on Boost with 4G on the Telstra network suits me and my lifestyle. I can get all the data I need wherever the waves take me up and down the coast. It's so awesome when I can load all my favourite surf inspo clips before I surf and upload pics and clips to socials of all my adventures that day, with no worries at all from almost anywhere.”

“I feel empowered to be a part of Women's surfing and what it represents in sport and with the added energy of representing Boost Mobile as an ambassador its sure to be one awesome show for stop No.1 on the 2019 World Surf League calendar. I can't wait!”
Boost Mobile - Official Telco Sponsor of the 2019 Nitro Circus Live Australia
Once described by Channing Tatum as “finding where it’s not possible to go, and going there,” Nitro Circus showcases world-class athletes and world-class daredevils in BMX, FMX, Skate and Scooter. Boost Mobile has partnered with Nitro Circus for the YOU GOT THIS Stadium Tour, which will be the three biggest shows in the history of Nitro Circus. The stadium tour will see the world first debut of two new ramps, one a radically expanded version of Nitro’s infamous Giganta Ramp and the other a reimagined FMX set up.

The partnership will include advertising, branding, content and tickets across the three events throughout February. Too big for indoor arenas, the events will take place in Melbourne at Etihad Stadium (Saturday 9th February), Sydney at Spotless Stadium (Saturday 16th February) and Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium (Saturday 23rd February).

“At Boost we’re all about pushing to the next level, offering our customers the most relevant products and ensuring they stay connected.  The Nitro guys are the same, they push their own abilities to the next level. The content is going to be jaw-breaking. Even if our consumers can’t make it to the events, we’ll make sure they can experience it from afar, thanks to a great network and competitive data rates,” said Jason Haynes, General Manager Boost Mobile Australia.
