GC Laughs ‘Shakes’ it Up

Announcement posted by GC Laughs Festival 28 Feb 2019

Featuring in the inaugural GC Laughs Festival at HOTA, Home of the Arts, is Shit-Faced Shakespeare, a raucous show that will leave the audience in fits of laughter on March 22 to 23.
Produced by Magnificent Bastard Productions, Shit-Faced Shakespeare is a world-famous act featuring an entirely inebriated actor performing Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream each night.

Festival Co-Directors Josh Armstrong and Craig Ivanoff said they are beyond excited to have this hilarious and talented cast feature in the festival to shake things up.

“Shakespeare isn’t what one would usually see featured in a comedy festival, but with this unique twist how could we resist,” said Craig.

“The idea is that every show is different and that element of spontaneity is what draws the audience in because they never know what to expect.”

Shit-Faced Shakespeare has toured around the world, entertaining over 300,000 audience members and winning multiple awards for its clever take on Shakespeare’s iconic tale.

“It’s quite an unusual concept, but that’s what makes it hilarious and why we wanted it to be a part of the GC Laughs Festival,” Craig added.

The Advertiser Journalist, Andrew O’Grady, reviewed this unique version of Shakespeare’s play, awarding it a very deserving 5-star rating.

“The Shit-Faced Shakespeare formula is altogether very well defined, almost game show like, music, lighting, props and audience participation.”

This hilarious show will take place in HOTA’s Paradise Showroom at 9.45pm on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 March as part of the GC Laughs Festival, held at the Home of the Arts from Sunday 17 – Sunday 24 March.
