The Autumn Racing Carnival is here! Check your BAC before driving home

Announcement posted by Andatech 28 Feb 2019

Don’t sour a happy day by losing your licence and copping a fine
The Autumn Racing Carnival has finally arrived with multi-million-dollar races at Randwick, Rosehill, Warwick Farm as well as Melbourne and Adelaide tracks over the next two months.

But while visitors can have fun and success at the track, it can all turn sour if you get caught drink-driving. To help ensure this doesn’t happen, it’s best to use a personal breathalyser during the day to test your blood alcohol concentration (BAC).

Having a few drinks to celebrate winning races or just enjoying the atmosphere at the track is fine but when it’s time to go home, drivers must be under .05. A personal breathalyser can show what your reading is before the police do.

No-one wants to lose their licence, cop a hefty fine and have their car impounded so it’s best to conduct a personal breath test before you even head to the car park. If you aren’t within the legal limit, only time will bring the BAC down.

Regular testing during the day using a personal breathalyser is easy with slim and lightweight units that fit into the palm of your hand. It’s best to make sure it is certified to Australian Standards, it’s reliable and provides an accurate reading in seconds.

Good personal breathalysers should provide a BAC reading to three decimal places with an accuracy of +/-.005% BAC and takes the guesswork out of knowing whether or not it is safe to drive a motor vehicle.

  1.  BAC refers to blood alcohol concentration or blood alcohol content and describes the percentage of alcohol present in an individual’s bloodstream at a particular point in time. It is the key variable that determines whether law enforcement can legally arrest a driver for impairment.
  2. AlcoSense breathalysers come with a three-year warranty that is extendable up to a lifetime as long as the unit is calibrated every six months. This is provided under the ‘AlcoSense Guarantee’, which applies to all Andatech breathalysers. https://www.andatechdistribution.com.au/pages/alcosense-guarantee
