Friday August 2, ONE ONE ONE Eagle Street BRISBANE QLD
Brisbane’s biggest stair climb is ready for lift off with participants stepping up to the challenge of scaling more than 1,000 steps to the rooftop of one of the city’s tallest skyscrapers while raising much needed funds to help tackle domestic and family violence.

Registrations for the 2019 River to Rooftop event are now open.

This much anticipated event will be held on Friday, August 2, with Brisbane’s corporate, sporting, fitness and philanthropic communities coming together to scale the 1,040 steps over 55 levels to the rooftop of the iconic ONE ONE ONE Eagle Street skyscraper in the heart of the CBD.

River to Rooftop supports Women’s Legal Service Queensland (WLSQ), which each year provides free legal assistance and welfare to help women and children at risk from the scourge of domestic violence.

Women’s Legal Service Queensland CEO Angela Lynch, says: “Every year, Women’s Legal Service provides vital help to around 16,000 women when they need it most. But for every two women who receive help, another call cannot be answered due to capacity constraints. There is no way to know when these women will have the courage or the opportunity to call again.

“By donating to participants in River to Rooftop, you are helping another woman and her children to safety. We really do rely on amazing individuals to get involved in River to Rooftop and help us raise much-needed funds to help thousands of Queensland women and their children experiencing domestic violence to find a safer future.

“The funds raised go directly to supporting and expanding the frontline services of Women’s Legal Service Queensland so we can continue to assist women in crisis.”

Organisers of River to Rooftop aim to raise $100,000 for WLSQ this year. The event will be held between 7am and 9am on August 2 and is an opportunity to have fun, get fit and snap the perfect rooftop selfie while making a difference for women and children who experience domestic violence.

The event is open to all fitness levels, and participants can form a team or race against other individuals. Teams can work together to scale up their fundraising and stair climb targets. Teams must have a minimum of four climbers with the fastest four climbers counted from each team.

There are terrific prizes on offer including awards for the highest fundraising individuals and teams as well as the fastest participants. Elite climbers are expected to complete the event in around eight minutes!
