ISACA Names David Samuelson CEO

Technology, learning and media veteran to focus on growth, innovation and business execution at global association marking its 50th anniversary

Sydney, Australia (1 April 2019)— ISACA, a global association with 140,000 members working in IT audit, governance, risk and security, has selected David Samuelson as its new chief executive officer. With a strong background in strategic vision and business execution, Samuelson brings experience in market innovation and digital transformation to ISACA in the association’s 50th anniversary year.

“In ISACA’s 50th year, our entire professional community is not only reflecting on its rich past and industry impact, but is forging ahead and innovating its future,” said ISACA Board Chair Rob Clyde, CISM. “David Samuelson is the ideal leader for ISACA as we continue to grow and expand globally. His far-reaching experience in learning and technology innovations and his latest non-profit executive leadership role will be tremendous assets, inspiring the entire organisation as we advance the positive potential of business technology worldwide.”

Samuelson joins ISACA following executive leadership roles as founder and CEO of Pinpoint Learning; executive vice president and general manager at Capstone Publishers; and more than 15 years in executive roles at Pearson plc. In recent months, Samuelson served as CEO of GreaterGood.com and on the board of its nonprofit partner, GreaterGood.org.

“I am honored to embrace the expansive opportunities for growth, creative solutions and innovation to better serve the ISACA community,” said Samuelson. “I intend to bring a new level of energy, urgency and executional focus to the important services we provide to our members around the world. I am committed to working closely with our members, volunteers, and professional staff to accelerate our mission of advancing global business leaders in technology, information and cybersecurity, governance, and risk.”

Samuelson said he plans to initially focus on increasing member value through modern learning and certification delivery worldwide; emphasising relevant professional learning community opportunities through conferences and chapters; and underscoring the world-class enterprise solutions ISACA offers organisations.

Established in 1969, ISACA this month was named most important nonprofit in the cybersecurity industry in the last 30 years by SC Media. The association runs a globally recognised certification program, including the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), and CSX Cybersecurity Practitioner (CSX-P) credentials.

ISACA developed the COBIT framework, which helps companies govern and manage their information and technology, and recently launched the newest version, COBIT 2019. ISACA also created Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) to help enterprises develop their cybersecurity workforce and address the global skills shortage.

ISACA is headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, USA, and has more than 220 chapters around the world. ISACA acquired the CMMI Institute to help advance enterprise innovation and enterprise-wide cyber risk mitigation and resilience through its CMMI Cybermaturity Platform, unveiled last year.
