Media invite and alert: Camp Quality Convoy Victoria – Trucks & motorbikes on the road for children’s cancer

When:             Sunday, April 7 from 9.30am – 3.00pm
Where:            Avalon Airport and throughout Geelong
Why/Who:      Truckies & Bikies travelling in Convoy to raise money for Camp Quality – followed by a “Show n Shine” competition and family fun day at Avalon airport

Dozens of trucks and motorbikes will convoy along Geelong streets and highways this SUNDAY, raising money for children’s charity, Camp Quality. The event is sponsored by Viva Energy and Truckline. For Truckline’s Territory Business Manager (VIC/TAS) Casey Stewart, this event holds special meaning for her and her family, after sadly losing her niece to childhood cancer at just five years of age.

“I’m proud that Truckline is continuing their support of and involvement in this event and to see it back again after a hugely successful 2017 Convoy. It was a terrible tragedy for my family when we lost my niece, so I’m keen to do anything I can to support other families living with cancer,” Casey said.

“Camp Quality is an incredible organisation that does so much for children growing up with cancer and their families. The programs and services offered to these children and their parents and siblings have a lasting impact and are such a great help through such a difficult time.”

Camp Quality State Manager for Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, Kendra Overall said the event will help the charity continue to support families affected by childhood cancer.

“All the funds raised by the truck drivers, the motorbike riders and the community at large supports Victorian kids to help children 0-13 deal with their own diagnosis, or the diagnosis of someone they love, like a brother, sister, mum or dad. We are there for them through the daily ups and downs of cancer. We create opportunities for the kids to be kids again: in-hospital, at home, at school and away from it all,” Kendra said.

The Convoy will start from Avalon Airport at 9.30am on April 7, arriving back at the airport around midday where the Show and Shine and a range of family-friendly events will take place, including face painting for the kids, courtesy of sponsor Truckline. The day will conclude at 3pm.

Interviews on the day are available with Camp Quality’s Kendra Overall and Truckline’s Casey Stewart. They will also be your contact points on the day.
