MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL ROADSHOW COMES TO HOTA

Announcement posted by HOTA 16 Apr 2019

From one hilarious comedy festival to another, HOTA, Home of the Arts, will play host to Australia’s largest and best-loved comedy festival on May 9.
Jam-packed with a cast of uproarious comedic talent, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) Roadshow is coming to the Gold Coast, hot on the heels of its run in Melbourne.

The roadshow line-up features Australia’s own funny man, Daniel Connell, who has been announced as MC for the Gold Coast show and will take to the stage with his affable, dry and often unanticipated acts.

The side-splitting line up also includes award-winning comedian and home-grown talent, Josh Earl, who is one not to miss with a comedy CV that has seen him perform with some of the best in the business; seasoned Canadian comedian, John Hastings, who has appeared at every major comedy festival in the world; Indian comedy superstar, Rahul Subramanian, returning to Australia with his anecdotal and observational acts; and Danielle Walker, a newcomer to last year’s Festival renowned for her unique, and slightly dark, everyday observations.

HOTA CEO, Criena Gehrke, said there’s no better destination than the Gold Coast’s arts and culture hub to host one of the best comedy festivals in the world.

“It’s no secret that we love comedy on the Gold Coast and especially here at HOTA,” she said. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously and are always up for a laugh. So, with the best of the Festival rolling into town, it’s sure to be a riot.”

The bill of fantastic funny makers will hit HOTA’s stage next month in this roving tour-de-comedy sure to provide knee-slapping entertainment for all.

For 20 years, the MICF Roadshow has travelled all around Australia presenting 99 performances of sketch, stand-up, satire, silliness and song, to over 80 destinations across 11 weeks.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow will take place in HOTA’s Arts Theatre on Thursday 9th May, at 7:30pm.
