Sydney, 2nd May 2019—InStitchu Press Release—Australian custom, tailored menswear brand, InStitchu, has opened a Showroom in David Jones. The Showroom features InStitchu’s signature old-world tailoring experience with a modern online twist and is located on Level 2 of David Jones’ Sydney CBD Flagship Market Street store.

Founded by Australians Robin McGowan and James Wakefield in 2012, InStitchu was created to remove the common pain points experienced in menswear shopping: the lack of convenient, custom, tailored options at an accessible price point.

InStitchu helps men design their own custom, made-to-measure suits and shirts in minutes, at an affordable price and without compromising on quality. A growing demand for personalisation and variety puts InStitchu in good stead, as they ensure perfectly fitted garments, unique custom detailing and freedom of choice on everything from buttons to pockets, fabrics and more.

The partnership with David Jones will be the ideal opportunity to merge the technological suiting processes of InStitchu with the long-proven traditional retail success of David Jones. The David Jones InStitchu Showroom will be InStitchu’s 10th Showroom across Australia and the US.

Co-Founder, Robin McGowan explains “Since we opened our first Showroom at 350 George Street, Sydney we have found that this physical element has really completed the InStitchu experience—an experience that we are now renowned for.”

“This unique partnership with David Jones is an opportunity for both businesses to combine the classic ease of department store retail with the contemporary pleasure of our tech-based, old-world tailoring experience.” said Co-Founder Robin McGowan

Designed by Sydney based Interior Designers Laguna & Co, the new David Jones InStitchu Showroom continues their theme of an authentic old-world tailoring experience, with a masculine, refined edge. The Showroom also has an emphasis on technology and the custom design process as a point of differentiation, as customers can sit in deep green velvet chairs, peruse fabrics and design their garments from scratch on the InStitchu website with a personal Stylist.

The new David Jones InStitchu Showroom will take individual, wedding party and group bookings, where customers can peruse premium fabrics and be measured and guided on design by one of their expert Stylists. Every order is placed through the InStitchu online e-commerce store InStitchu.com and all orders are covered by InStitchu’s Perfect Fit Guarantee.

Co-Founder James Wakefield said “It’s a real honour to be a part of the wider David Jones family and to have the opportunity to display our custom, tailored suits to thousands of shoppers every single day. The bigger opportunity, however, will be to show these shoppers how easy, enjoyable and affordable finding a perfectly fitted suit and completely custom suit can be.”

As the newest member of the David Jones family, InStitchu hopes to increase its brand presence to shoppers who may be less inclined to find their suits online. Key features, such as the Woolmark certified 100% Australian Merino wool that InStitchu uses in their wool products, can now be brought into the forefront of appreciation.

“We pride ourselves on constructing the highest quality suits from scratch using world-leading technology and premium fabrics including Woolmark certified 100% Merino wool. Customers who have previously enjoyed shopping at David Jones can now see and feel our garments first-hand at David Jones before then designing, customising and being fitted for their own in a quick, easy and affordable way with our Stylists expert advice.” said James Wakefield

InStitchu’s Savile Row trained Tailors construct each garment from scratch and garments are delivered direct to customers doors or to a showroom within 3-4 weeks. What completes this experience is the expert knowledge and professionalism of InStitchu’s Stylists, whose fitting ability and eye for detail is now on full display at David Jones.

Although this is the first InStitchu Showroom opening within the David Jones network, Co-Founders Robin McGowan and James Wakefield anticipate that many more David Jones Showrooms will be opened over the next 12 months across the country.

David Jones General Manager of Menswear and Childrenswear Chris Wilson said, “InStitchu marks the arrival of a new type of retail experience, one where the customer joins the design journey of their garment. We’re thrilled to welcome InStitchu to our menswear designer offering at David Jones and know our customers will be inspired by the revolutionary made-to-measure service.”

About InStitchu

InStitchu is an Australian owned and operated custom, tailored menswear brand, founded in 2012 by Co-Founders and high school friends James Wakefield and Robin McGowan.

The concept of InStitchu is special—bridging the gap between technology and traditional retail, InStitchu has an omni-channel business model where customers can choose to design custom, tailored garments online at InStitchu.com or at one of InStitchu’s Showrooms.

Headquartered in Sydney, InStitchu currently has 10 Showrooms across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and New York City, with a view to expand further this year.

InStitchu’s Showrooms act an extension of the website and aim to transport customers back into the realms of old-world tailoring, as they sip on a glass of whisky whilst perusing fabrics, getting measured and designing their garment with their dedicated Stylist. While in-person fittings are not required, customers can come in for a personalised fitting if they wish and then conveniently re-order online next time, with all their measurements and past orders saved to their InStitchu online profile.

With a combination of world-leading technology, the best natural fibre fabrics (including Woolmark certified 100% Australian Merino wool, cashmere, mohair, linen and cotton) and premium customer service, InStitchu brings customers the highest quality garments at great value.

Every order is placed through the InStitchu online e-commerce store InStitchu.com and all orders are covered by InStitchu’s Perfect Fit Guarantee—whereby if a customer’s garment is not perfectly fitted they will alter or remake their garment, ensuring that the purchasing process is completely risk-free.
