Here’s how new ActiveImage tech delivers easy backup and recovery management

Announcement posted by PR Deadlines 30 May 2019

The disk imaging backup, system DR and virtualisation solutions vendor ActiveImage, has just made backup and recovery of virtual machines far easier.

The latest update to their Virtual Edition software will backup virtual infrastructures without the need to install backup software on either the host or guest machines.
Virtual Edition also employs ActiveImage’s vStandby technology to create and maintain standby virtual machines from backup images for instant switch-over in case of disaster.

Deduplication across VMs allows a choice between three levels of block-based deduplication to be applied across all virtual machines from the hypervisor. This reduces storage requirements by as much as 75 percent onsite, offsite or in the cloud.

All virtual machines (and physical machines, if there are any) are managed from a single centralised console.

ActiveImage’s Australian-based Asia Pacific VP, Richard Giddey, says that ActiveImage has also simplified licensing for virtual infrastructures.
A sysadmin using a traditional backup and disaster recovery application may have to purchase, install and manage multiple licenses, but with with ActiveImage a single license and single software instance covers all the virtual hosts and guests.
