Java Development Leaders Keep Business At The Cortex

Announcement posted by Cortex eBusiness 08 Aug 2001

Cortex eBusiness, Australias premier Java development company, is continuing to defy e-business industry trends and continue recruitment of senior Java development software engineers for both its Sydney and Melbourne locations. Cortex again has maximised the opportunities that the e-business world has recently presented, hiring senior qualified staff from defunct organisations, or organisations no longer requiring a full complement of staff.

Contrary to many other organisations, we did not expand our cost base during the dot com boom and this now plays a major role for us being able to take advantage of current market conditions, outlined Mr Peter Moore, CEO Cortex.

We have benefited from sharing premises with initial clients, taking over staff from former clients, establishing our Melbourne office in the former theLounge.com fully-furnished premises and now hiring really talented people from faltering companies, he continued.

In its quest to build the most respected and effective Java development house in the country, Cortex will continue its opportunistic recruitment programme to secure experienced staff and stand out graduates to achieve a potential 60 staff across three locations by the end of this financial year. Development centres are currently in Sydney and Melbourne with a Singapore location potentially planned to provide support for an increasing level of Asian clients and partners.

Cortex eBusiness has recruited ex-marchFIRST senior architect and Bell Labs team leader, Oliver Burn, and former Bell Labs software engineer, Brendan Humphreys, for the team in Sydney. Oliver has over 11 years experience in object oriented software development with skills in Java development and web applications using Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) technologies (a platform for large-scale enterprise). Brendan, also with J2EE development skills, comes to Cortex with the award for Bell Labs Australia Rookie of the Year 1998.

The Melbourne development team will benefit from the skills of Mike Williams and Martin Zaidel. With years of international consulting experience in J2EE and leading edge intranet development experience, Mike will continue to focus on his particular career interests of development tools, application frameworks and open-source software. Martin, with almost a decade of developing software and, most recently, designing and deploying enterprise-wide Java software for Melbourne I.T, will continue to build innovative software applications on the UNIX platform.
