MONKEY BAA BRINGS A LITTLE POSSUM MAGIC TO HOTA

Australia’s leading professional theatre company for young audiences, Monkey Baa Theatre Company, is bringing to life the much-loved characters and whimsical journey of Possum Magic at HOTA on July 12 to 13.
Based on one of the best-selling Australian picture books of all time, Possum Magic has captivated and enchanted audiences for generations, with this brand-new theatrical adaptaion promising to deliver an unforgettable experience for children and adults alike.
 
Monkey Baa and its extraordinary creative team – including illusion and magic consultants – take audiences on a journey to tell the enthralling tale about magical ‘Grandma Poss’ who goes on an adventure to cities around Australia to find the food that can undo her spell and make ‘Hush’ visible again.
 
CEO of HOTA, Criena Gehrke, said the adored story comes to life in this remarkable adaptation for all ages and is one not to miss.

Monkey Baa Theatre Company is Australia’s widest-reaching touring company, having conducted over 26 national tours to 138 regional and remote communities across every state and territory; as well as 4 international tours, over 2,800 performances and engaged with 1.3 million young people before coming to HOTA this month.
 
The theatre company believe Australian stages should be filled with stories that represent all the extraordinary cultures living in the country and strive to create work that offers young people a multi-faceted reflection of our world. The Monkey Baa team will return to HOTA this September, with yet another thought-provoking play – Hitler’s Daughter, based on the book by Jackie French.
 
This exciting new stage adaption of Possum Magic is written by Eva Di Cesare and Sandra Eldridge – who also directs the production – and is based on the iconic book by Mem Fox and Julie Vivas that has sold over 5 million copies. 
 
Sure to inspire entertainment and a nostalgic experience to remember, Possum Magic, will take to the stage at HOTA, Home of the Arts on Friday 12th July at 1.30pm and Saturday 13th July at 11am and 1.30pm.
