Honouring the Past, Innovating the Future: Key Theme at ISACA 50 Year Anniversary Oceania CACS

Auckland, New Zealand (5 August 2019) – Contemporary IT governance and management,
digital transformation, disruptive technologies and big data are a few of the key themes that will be explored at ISACA’s upcoming Oceania Computer, Audit, Control and Security (CACS) Conference, held in Auckland, New Zealand from 11-13 September.
In honour of ISACA’s 50th Anniversary milestone, this year’s conference theme will focus on the areas that have brought the industry this far: the BA*SI*CS: Business Acumen, Strategic Intelligence, and Cyber Security. These three key areas continuously refresh skills and knowledge to make an impact in the IT profession.
ISACA’s Oceania CACS brings together world class keynotes, panelists and delegates to share their expertise in cyber security, IT governance and risk, and more. This includes industry experts from leading companies and government agencies, such as Tony Hayes, Deputy Director-General, Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors, Abbas Kudrati, Chief Cybersecurity Officer for Microsoft Asia’s Enterprise Cybersecurity Group, Phil Whitmore, Partner, Cyber Security at KPMG, Dawie Olivier, Chief Information Officer at Westpac New Zealand, Matthew Lord, Head Of Cybersecurity Practice Dimension Data, and Paul Salisbury at Blockchain Labs.
The conference will attract a wide variety of local and international technology professionals from around the globe, focusing on uniting leading minds, generating unrivaled learning experiences, and creating passionate discussions that result in actual transformation.
This year, after results from ISACA’s 2019 State of Cyber Part 2 stated that only one in three organisations is highly confident in their ability to detect and respond to cyber threats, Doug Grindstaff, from the CMMI® Institute is running a Masterclass on “Building Resilience Through a Risk-Based ‘Cybermaturity’ Approach”. Following hundreds of interviews with CISOs/CSOs across the globe, the Masterclass will go through CMMI’s holistic, risk-based approach for assessing organizational security capability maturity and efficiently building resilience, and provide a risk-based approach for prioritizing investment for organizations with varying complexity and security demands.
Furthermore, in direct response to ISACA’s State of Cyber Part 1 showing a lack of mentors and female role models, gender bias, and unequal growth opportunities in the tech workforce, a SheLeadsTech panel will highlight the initiatives being undertaken by leaders in New Zealand and Australia, to increase the representation of women in leadership roles, led by Rachel Whitelaw, General Manager at ASB Bank.
