Education Leaders and Experts to Gather in Sydney for Blackboard’s Teaching and Learning Conference 2019

Education technology event will address challenges and opportunities facing institutions across Australia and New Zealand
SYDNEY, 07 August, 2019 – Blackboard is bringing together educators, administrators and industry leaders for its annual Teaching & Learning Conference Australia and New Zealand 2019, which will take place at the Rydges World Square Sydney on August 20-22.
 
The education technology event will feature sessions, workshops and presentations focussed on the most relevant topics for the industry, including improving the accessibility of education, enhancing curriculum with technology, driving student success through educational insights and optimising the student experience through digital and blended learning.  Experts will also have the opportunity to learn how Blackboard is driving the next wave of innovation in EdTech and hear the latest about its integrated EdTech platform.

This year, keynotes will be delivered by:
  • Marc Booker – Associate Provost, Strategic Initiatives and Implementation, University of Phoenix, USA
  • Jill Downie – Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic at Curtin University
  • Dr. Jenine Beekhuyzen – Founder & CEO of the Tech Girls Movement
  • Kathy Vieira – Chief Strategy, Portfolio and Marketing Officer, Blackboard
  • Lee Blakemore – Chief Client Officer and President, Global Markets, Blackboard
  • Phill Miller – Chief Learning & Innovation Officer, Blackboard

Additional highlights at this year’s conference include:
  • Opportunities to meet Blackboard industry partners, including Amazon Web Services, Echo360, EesySoft, ReadSpeaker, Kaltura and Watermark.
  • A UX Lab for an in-depth technology training and demo sessions on future tools
  • A hands-on experience of the first developer tier of Blackboard Data, including eligibility information, walkthroughs for each component and hands-on training with the data model itself.
  • Interactive User Group sessions on Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Open LMS, Blackboard Collaborate, Blackboard Analytics and Kaltura.
  • The Community Knowledge Bar, an area to engage with Blackboard product experts and connect with the Blackboard community. 
In addition to the main conference, the following events will take place on Tuesday, 20 August 2019: 
  • DevCon 2019 - for developers and administrators to hear about Blackboard’s increasing support for third-party integrations and how technologies such as REST APIs, LTI and Caliper can be used to enhance and extend Blackboard Learn.  In addition, the chance to explore in more detail Blackboard Data.
  • Academic Adoption Day 2019 - for learning designers and advisors, education developers, lecturers and support teams to better understand how to generate active learning and learner engagement experiences using Learn Ultra.
  • Digital Teaching & Learning Certification Program - for teachers and support staff to be trained in “Fundamentals of digital teaching and learning”, the first course of Blackboard’s Digital Teaching and Learning series.  Upon successful completion, participants will receive the Blackboard Association Certification.
