EFI Introduce the World's Most Compact Digital Whiteboard System

Announcement posted by Electronics for Imaging 27 Feb 2002

Electronics for Imaging (EFI) announce the Australian launch of the eBeam System 3 digital whiteboard appliance, the next generation of eBeam hardware. The eBeam System 3 captures meeting notes and diagrams as they are created on whiteboards and broadcasts them over the Internet or corporate intranet in real time.

The eBeam System 3 appliance is the smallest digital whiteboard solution on the market. The hand-sized unit can be placed on any corner of a whiteboard or flipchart to capture handwritten notes and drawings in real time. The eBeam System 3 hardware will be offered in both serial and USB versions and is compatible with both Macintosh and PCs. The software will support synchronisation of eBeam meetings files saved on Palm OS devices.

The eBeam System 3 software also includes the eBeam mouse application, which works with a digital projector to turn the display area into a virtual touch screen. The hardware has been designed to be even more portable than the previous model, yet also includes a bracket for permanent installations.

The eBeam system 3 raises the bar in flexibility and convenience for digital whiteboard systems, said Eric Holtsmark, Sales and Marketing Manager, EFI Australia. Under current economic conditions, businesses and schools must be even more creative and efficient in their use of space and equipment. Since the eBeam System 3 appliance works with the existing whiteboards, users can take an old, familiar tool that they already have in their offices and classrooms and update it to improve productivity. Moreover, using the eBeam remote meeting software allows virtual teams to have more effective distance meetings and to save on travel costs.

About eBeam

The eBeam system is an Internet office appliance that works with existing whiteboards and other writing surfaces to capture meeting notes and diagrams as they are created. Information is viewed, saved, edited, shared and printed using any Windows PC. Unlike traditional electronic whiteboards and copyboards, the eBeam marker system is portable, easy to install and Web-enabled. The palm sized unit consisting of two small pods, a pen sleeve, a standard dry-erase pen, and an eraser can be carried in a laptop case and installed in less than five minutes.
