AIIA renews MOU with DTA to further drive innovation and improve government services

Melbourne, Australia – 28 August 2019 -- The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), the peak member body for the ICT industry, has signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) to strengthen collaboration between government and the ICT industry.

Under the agreement, the DTA and AIIA will continue to exchange information, experiences and expertise to achieve better outcomes for people and businesses using government services.

Ron Gauci, CEO of the AIIA, said: “The new MOU is more than a renewal of an existing agreement. It is a strengthening of the ties we have with the Federal Government and the role our industry can play in shaping and delivering the digital agenda in Australia.

“The new MOU identifies some specific activities and programs that the AIIA and the DTA have agreed to collaborate on.”

Gauci said the DTA has acknowledged the skills that the AIIA members can contribute and the role the industry can play. “This is a terrific opportunity for our for all our members. Therefore, the MOU shows the commitment between government and industry to collaborate and share expertise.”

DTA Chief Executive Officer, Randall Brugeaud, said: “The ICT industry has a wealth of knowledge and experience that can assist government in improving services for people and businesses in Australia.

“Government must continue to work with industry to further eliminate barriers and improve transparency so that all businesses, regardless of size, can contribute.”

The original MOU which was entered into on 13 March 2018, has assisted to facilitate industry engagement and consultation for initiatives such as digital sourcing reform, the Digital Transformation Strategy and capability development.

The renewed MoU will continue to enable the information industry to take an active role in delivering customer-focused improvements in government service delivery.

The AIIA updated its Government Digitisation Policy Position Statement on 29 March 2019.
