Global Tech Association ISACA Mobilises Worldwide for Inaugural Day of Volunteer Service

During 50th anniversary year, ISACA launches CommunITy Day to give back around the globe
Sydney, Australia (30 August 2019) – Global technology association ISACA is gearing up for its first-ever worldwide day of volunteerism, ISACA CommunITy Day, taking place on 5 October 2019. Using a live social media feed and #ISACACommunITyDay, members, staff and other engaged community members around the world will track local service projects making a difference in their communities around the world within this 24-hour period from New Zealand to Hawaii.
With more than 220 chapters, 140,000 members, 200 staff and 460,000 engaged professionals, ISACA has a wide-reaching impact around the world in helping advance the positive potential of technology —and on ISACA CommunITy Day, the association plans to extend this impact to make a meaningful difference in wide-ranging ways in communities across the globe.
“ISACA’s strength lies in its passionate global member community, who are not only engaged in the profession and the vibrant tech landscape that they work in, but also in the world around them,” said David Samuelson, ISACA CEO. “We believe that by harnessing the positive, combined energy of our dedicated membership, staff and extended network on our first ISACA CommunITy Day, we can maximise our impact in areas of great need worldwide.”
Local chapter organisers are leading the effort in identifying charitable partners and offering opportunities for members—and their families—to sign up. ISACA is connecting its 220+ chapters around the globe, featuring the dedication and local expertise of its passionate volunteer corps to identify the most impactful ways ISACA CommunITy Day participants can make a difference locally and globally.
For example, ISACA’s Melbourne Chapter members are contributing this year by donating blood at Australia’s Red Cross, and the members of the Wellington Chapter will be selecting several charities to work with on the day in New Zealand.
Anthony Rodrigues, ISACA’s Melbourne Chapter president, said: “ISACA Melbourne Chapter’s greatest asset is its members who make valuable contacts, strengthen leadership skills, learn more about the organization, contribute to the profession’s knowledge base, and help fellow members develop professionally. ISACA CommunITy day is an opportunity for our member base to come together with a defined purpose and objective to have positive impact on the broader community.”
On 5 October, participants will share photos and updates of their service projects using #ISACACommunITyDay to be captured in a live social media feed promoting their good work and connecting others to ISACA and the various causes around the world.
“We know our chapter leaders, members and staff best understand the local needs of their own communities, whether they live in Kenya, Ecuador, Malaysia, or anywhere else around the globe” said Melissa Swartz, ISACA volunteer engagement manager. “Whether those opportunities are related to the business technology profession or are more generally aimed at making the world a better place, we are excited to see the diverse range of volunteer activities that ISACA members and staff bring to life on CommunITy Day.”
