Intel and Tech Pacific revise channel strategy

Announcement posted by Tech Pacific 20 Sep 2001

Intel and Tech Pacific Australia have revised their channel market strategy and announced changes to the terms of their long-standing distribution agreement.

The two companies have decided that the broad-based distributor will redefine the Intel product set it delivers to the channel.

Tech Pacific will cease supplying Intel CPU and motherboards to the channel later this year, opting instead to focus 100 percent on Intel's networking wireless solutions and Xircom product range.

For some time, Tech Pacific has been focusing on expanding its networking business into the burgeoning SME and OEM market and believes Intel's product range offers the perfect opportunity to continue that push.

Although Tech Pacific has represented Intel networking products in the channel for some time, Intel's recent Xircom acquisition plus its newly released range of network cards and handheld connectivity devices will enhance the distributor's efforts.

These changes will come into effect after October 1, 2001.
