ZUCOLLI IGA ANNOUNCES SPONSORSHIP OF FOODBANK’S CHRISTMAS HAMPER FOOD DRIVE

Foodbank NT, the largest relief agency in NT, will launch their 2019 Christmas Hamper Food Drive on Saturday 2nd of November 2019 at Zuccoli Plaza, with sponsorship from Darwin’s largest IGA store Zuccoli IGA. Darwin’s most popular radio personalities, Greg Vincent and Ali Burton from MIX104.9, will broadcast live from Zuccoli Plaza from 8am until noon.
The food drive relies heavily on the goodwill and support from the NT Government, the Territory business community, sponsors, Zuccoli IGA , MIX 104.9 and others, as well as local Territorians, to meet the ever growing demand to supply food to vulnerable people in our community.
As Christmas approaches Foodbank NT is gearing up to supply around 750 or more Christmas hampers to people in need. This year the annual Christmas Hamper Food Drive will be held during the entire month of November, two weeks earlier than last year due to the immense logistical requirements of receiving, sorting, preparing and delivering over 11,000 kilos of food prior to Christmas.
The local community will be encouraged to buy additional cans of food or dried ‘Christmas’ grocery items and bring them along this Saturday or purchase a can of food from Zuccoli IGA for themselves and donate a can to the appeal. Zuccoli IGA is the largest IGA store in Darwin and is owned and operated by locals.
Zuccoli IGA Manager Kenny Lay commented:
“Being locals we understand how important it is to support those less fortunate in our community and are delighted to partner with Foodbank to launch their 2019 Christmas appeal”
The residents of Zuccoli and Palmerston are encouraged to attend on Saturday to support this worthwhile event and to enjoy free food, entertainment and Zuccoli IGA specials.
