Space School Program is Academically Accredited

Sydney, NEW SOUTH WALES – November 2019

·       Space School program is academically accredited and approved in the USA as an Honors Level College Preparatory Course providing students with up to 5.0 GPA.

·       This accreditation is designed specifically to prepare high school students for university entry.

·        College Preparatory courses assist students to meet the stringent academic requirements of university.

Australian company Actura’s Junior Space School and Senior Space School programs are academically recognised and approved in the USA as Honors Level College Preparatory Courses, each providing students with up to 5.0 GPA. Devised to prepare high school students for university entry, college preparatory courses aid students to better meet the exacting academic requirements of university.

CASE Junior Space School and CASE Senior Space School are programs spearheaded by the California Association for STEAM Education (CASE), and represent the CASE Space School International Study program options. These out-of-class immersive, experiential Space School programs enable high school students to experience first-hand the Space environment, with groups of students regularly making expeditions to NASA’s headquarters in Texas, Houston. Now officially recognised as academically accredited Honors Level College Preparatory Courses, this signals the efficacy of the programs. Underpinning the programs are a set of distilled “key skills”; the Seven Survival Skills as coined by Dr Tony Wagner (Harvard University), which focus on critical-thinking, problem-solving and communication skills designed to prepare students for the 21st century.

The fact that these programs are now officially 5.0 GPA College Preparatory Courses reinforces the mission of Actura to “empower youth for future success”. College Preparatory courses are high calibre and help students meet the exacting academic requirements of university – as they transition from high school education through to tertiary studies. Honors level courses help students achieve the higher GPAs required by top tier universities. By completing CASE Space School, students can now earn the highest possible GPA score of 5.0.

CASE Space School is academically accredited through Legend College Preparatory School, California, which ensures students obtain bona fide academic credits and transcripts to validate their course completion. CASE Space School is partnered with Legend College Preparatory Online School (Legend) so that students have ready access to their official US transcripts and academic tracks demonstrating their intention for college and university admissions. Through completing CASE Space School, students are eligible to receive course credits and an academic transcript. Students require official transcripts when applying for tertiary study and when enrolling in a US University/College.

Although international students do not require a GPA, a transcript identifying the completion of a College Preparatory Course at a certain GPA helps validate international students’ academic proficiency and readiness to study at college level. Students with an official CASE Space School transcript can apply to any US university or college. When applying to colleges in the University of California System (UC System), the application process is simplified as CASE Space School has been pre-approved by UC. With major US universities such as Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, UCLA, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz as part of the UC system, this provides international students with a definite advantage.

“We are proud to have our CASE Junior Space School program and CASE Senior Space School program officially accredited and approved as Honors Level College Preparatory Courses, providing students with up to 5.0 GPA. This reinforces the critical role Actura plays in empowering our youth for their future success through essential STEAM learning”.
