Regional Events Held For Rural Doctors by Geelong Plastic Surgery Clinic

Announcement posted by Australia Skin Face Body 07 Nov 2019

In Australia, it’s estimated that 60% of people have less than adequate levels of health literacy, which is a significant challenge in delivering health services according to the AMA.

In addition to this, Doctors in regional areas struggle to keep up with demand. The combination of the two calls for action and Geelong Plastic Surgery Clinic Australian Skin Face Body is rising to the occasion.

The Australian Medical Association also states it is crucial to provide a dedicated and quality training pathway with the right skill mix to ensure doctors are adequately trained to work in rural areas. But this isn't always easy. Statistics show that rural medical practitioners work longer hours than those in major cities. In 2012, GPs in major cities worked 38 hours per week on average, while those in inner regional areas worked 41 hours, and those in remote/very remote areas worked 46 hours. It is not always easy to leave regional areas to learn or train in additional skills. Medicine is a technologically progressing profession and offers new and exciting treatments rural doctors may not access with ease.

Australian Skin Face Body has an extensive team of highly qualified practitioners that are taking an active role in educating medical professionals via regular information sessions, interactive workshops and white papers in areas including:

  • Plastic, Reconstructive & Cosmetic Surgery

  • Hand Surgery & Microsurgery (Mr Rafael Acosta-Rojas)

  • Skin Cancer Detection, Diagnosis and Treatment

  • Fat Transfer

  • Dermal Fillers & Anti-wrinkle Injections

  • Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

  • Anti-ageing Medicine

  • PICO genesis Enlighten III Laser

Many of the ASFB team have travelled the world, assisting in and training others in complex cases. Encompassing third world countries and extreme rural areas, the team are enthusiastic about sharing this extensive medical experience. One such example is Dr Ian Holten, whom has extensive experience and has saved lives and completed many hours of surgical training. For more than 20 years Dr Holten has run training workshops for GP’s, GP Trainees and practice Nurses.  In addition to the workshops, GP’s are invited to sit in on surgery cases or telemedicine any cases for free advice and training.

Australian Skin Face Body is a team of specialist trained surgeons, nurses and therapists. The organisation provides guidance and support. They combine experience, personal attention and the most modern technology to achieve realistic results. Dr Ian Holten, lead Plastic Surgeon at ASFB encourages people to always see a skin care professional to ensure you are receiving the best and latest treatment for your condition.
