Ericsson awarded Hutch network capacity expansion project

Announcement posted by Ericsson Australia 20 Aug 2004

Ericsson Australia and Hutchison 3G Australia will shortly commence an expansion project to increase the capacity of Hutchison's '3' network.
Under the expansion project agreement, Ericsson Australia will supply Hutchison Telecoms with additional 3G, (WCDMA) network hardware, software and services.
"Working closely with Ericsson, Hutchison is growing the capacity of the 3 network according to customer growth, "said Victa McClelland, Chief Technical Officer, Hutchison Telecoms. "This capacity expansion project is in response to market demand and our continued dedication to deliver and build on the leading-edge service that we provide to 3 customers."
The new agreement builds on a strong existing relationship between Ericsson and Hutchison in addition to Ericsson's leadership in the region for W-CDMA. "The capacity requirement is testimony to strong consumer interest in 3. Ericsson is excited about the market demand for mobile services and building on the rewarding relationship we have with our business partner Hutchison," said Lars Eriksson, Director of Ericsson Australia's Hutchison Business Unit. "Both parties see this agreement as proof of our commitment to the continued success of 3G."
Ericsson supplied and delivered the integrated infrastructure for Hutchison's existing 3 network in Australia and has a 7-year managed service agreement that covers all of Hutchison's Australian technical operations.
