Announcement posted by Primavera Australia 25 Feb 2004
In a move that signifies a commitment to customers based in the ACT, Primavera Australia has officially opened the doors of its latest office in Kingston Canberra.
Primavera Australia provides tailored project management solutions that are matched to customers' specific needs, processes and business maturity.
Currently, Primavera works with more than 1,100 companies across
Australia, and many of these customers are located in Canberra.
"As in the corporate sector, government agencies and departments are feeling the pinch of cost-cutting, rationalisation and streamlining IT spend. Project Portfolio Management is the key difference between success and failure," said Gordon Comins, Managing Director, Primavera Australia.
"Without having an overarching 360 degree view of the projects being undertaken at any one time, government agencies are at risk of incurring increased costs, and possibly the late delivery of key services to the general public," he continued.
"Primavera believes government agencies can benefit from the right project management tools and processes to ensure outsourcing projects are delivered to plan and budget."
The decision to focus on growth in the ACT market, stems from Primavera's increasing work with Federal Government departments looking to implement systems and processes that drive cost-savings and increase efficiency.
For customers based in Canberra such as Centrelink, the new office will facilitate a greater degree of access to Primavera's highly skilled professionals and industry-leading solutions including TeamPlay.
Centrelink, a Primavera customer since 1997, recently upgraded its project scheduling and resource planning toolset to TeamPlay to better manage its resource supply and demand at an enterprise level.
"By raising the transparency of resource commitment and gaining a better understanding of the status of project deliverables, Centrelink can establish reliable metrics for future effort estimating," commented Boyd McCarron, Project Manager for Centrelink's TeamPlay, Primavera implementation.
Enhancing service delivery for citizens
For many Government departments and agencies, new technologies are only a part of the solution. Ultimately, it is the transformation of business processes that will deliver the benefits and outcomes Commonwealth departments desire.
Steve Keys, Director for Business Development, Primavera Australia said, "Streamlined business processes will lead to greater service delivery, ultimately resulting in greater availability of information and efficiency gains."
According to Mr Keys improved visibility business processes will also enable Government agencies adhere to Corporate Governance guidelines.
"Government agencies need to adopt a common-sense approach to managing financial reporting procedures and implementing sound retention policies for knowledge transfer."
"To achieve this, Government agencies must involve business and IT management in the compliance process, with effective project management uniting multiple stakeholders in this process," Mr Keys concluded.
