LIVE LIFE A LITTLE LOUDER AT HOTA THIS MARCH

Announcement posted by HOTA 14 Jan 2020

Following the great response to HOME Festival in December, HOTA, Home of the Arts invites audiences to dance, laugh and sing out loud in a brand new festival of big ideas and fun – OUT LOUD Festival.
From March 6 to 15, spanning 10 days, a diverse line-up of international and local artists will land at HOTA for a celebration through arts of our ever-changing world.

OUT LOUD Festival comes off the back of the venue’s inaugural HOME Festival in December, which saw over 6,000 attend a packed program dedicated to enjoying summer at home with world-class entertainment right on our doorstep.

HOTA CEO, Criena Gehrke, said OUT LOUD Festival continues HOTA’s forward-thinking attitude, with a multi-layered program geared towards all-ages and interests.

“The OUT LOUD Festival is about connecting people, art and ideas. With a line-up of international superstars, local luminaries and one-off experiences that you won’t see anywhere else, this is a festival where art and contemporary culture collides,” she said.

From big ideas to belly laughs, cutting-edge technology to family sing-a-longs and one huge party with Brazilian music royalty; the program brings together an assorted line-up of Australian firsts and audience favourites.

Kicking off on Friday March 6, the program opens with two huge Brazilian superstars; the iconic Jorge Ben Jor, and heraled breakout star, Liniker e os Caramelows. The pair will come together in an epic outdoor party of Samba, Jazz, Bossa Nova and Soul.

The ultimate event of comedy and wine follows, with Grapes of Mirth inviting audiences to relax on the grass, from sunset til late, while enjoying wine from the Granite Belt’s finest producers as Merrick Watts hosts a stellar line-up of big name comedians.

Then it’s time to get curious with Talks & Ideas featuring thought provoking conversations with leading authors and idea makers. Over three consecutive nights, the focus will be on topics of fate, artifical intelligence and climate change – a theme also explored in an installation and kids’ workshops by visual artist, Jason Phu.

Merging art and technology, ASMR Live! With WhispersRed comes to Australia for the first time.  Bringing a YouTube phenonenom into a live setting, audiences will be induced into a deeply-relaxed state, in this multi-sensory experience.

A free, family film screening of The Greatest Showman Sing-a-Long Experience offers a riotously fun night out for all-ages, encouraging fans to come dressed for the part and ready to sing their hearts out.

To close the festival, the bold worlds of Asia POP and eGames combine for one supercharged day of fun at Pop & Play. An all-access pass allows audiences to engage with e-games, take on a dance crew and enjoy a day of music, market stalls, workshops and food treats.

OUT LOUD Festival will run from March 6 -15, with performances and activities held across HOTA’s outdoor space and venues.
