Department of Defence negotiates new Enterprise Licence Agreement with Lotus

The Department of Defence Head of Information Systems Division recently negotiated a new four year Defence wide Enterprise Licence Agreement (ELA) with IBM/Lotus. This new ELA replaces the former Lotus Agreement, which was due to expire in June this year. Through the Lotus software suite the ELA gives Defence clients access to both Collaboration and Knowledge Tools including:
- Lotus Domino and clients - Domino Family of Servers provide a multi-platform foundation for collaboration and e-business, driving solutions from corporate messaging to Web based transactions and everything in between.
- Lotus LearningSpace - LearningSpace is a complete learning delivery and management solution that lets organisations take advantage of the powerful benefits of e-learning.
- Lotus Sametime - Real-time collaboration for e-business, Sametime can make working with your extended team easier than ever before.
- Lotus Quickplace - Lotus QuickPlace is the self-service Web tool for team collaboration that enables creation of a team workspace on the Web -- instantly!
Defence's uptake of Knowledge Tools is presently expanding as focus continues to grow on combining well-trained people with the effective use of technology. This approach contributes towards the Defence 'Knowledge Edge' with the ELA providing another resource platform for achieving this.
The ELA provides a holistic enterprise approach, ensuring significant cost avoidance for Defence. Defence can install ELA products on any computers in the Defence Information Environment, regardless of the number of client or server computers for the period of the Agreement. The ELA also provides other major advantages over its predecessor arrangements.
