EHS Data pledge to become carbon-negative in 2020

Announcement posted by EHS Data 26 Feb 2020

Carbon-neutral is no longer enough!

Being a carbon-neutral organisation

The main objective of the MonitorPro environmental data management system is to help the environment, and at EHS Data we take the environment and our own sustainability very seriously.

We've been carbon-neutral for a number of years by installing solar panels and improving the efficiency of our buildings by consuming renewable energy, driving electric cars, providing paper-free offices, and using recyclable products where we possibly can.

When we are obliged to travel or otherwise use CO2, we pay the equivalent for planting and sustaining woodland areas in the UK by
making donations to the  Woodland Trust.

Carbon-neutral is no longer enough!

As our planet struggles with the pressures of human activity, we feel that there is an urgent need for all carbon producing organisations to act and not only implement a carbon-neutral strategy, but to strive for a carbon-negative future.  EHS Data will therefore become a carbon negative organisation from 2020.

To achieve this, we will donate 5% of our revenue from all new client software licenses going forwards for carbon off setting and green initiatives. It is our commitment to our environment to help combat climate change and to foster a greener
and safer planet for future generations.

“Climate change is upon us and we have an uncertain future unless we all work together and act now.”

Phil Ely. EHS Data – Managing Director

About the Woodland Trust

In 1972 a group of friends gathered round a kitchen table in Devon discussing saving a local wood: that day the Woodland Trust was born. The kitchen table belonged to Kenneth Watkins OBE – the  founder and first chairman of Woodland Trust – who was so concerned about loss of ancient woodland, he decided to do something about it.

Now the Woodland Trust stand up for trees as the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity. They have 500,000 members and supporters and more than 1,000 woods of their own which are free to visit anytime.Their head office is in Grantham, Lincolnshire, with regional offices in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland too and a network of volunteers all over the British Isles.

The Woodland Trust create havens for wildlife by planting millions of trees every year, campaign for new laws to protect ancient woodland and restore damaged ancient woods so they can breathe again. Their vision is to create a United Kingdom rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife.
