NAVIGATING SCHOOL CLOSURES

Announcement posted by Reconnect PR 18 Mar 2020

Leading EdTech shares online learning guidance for parents, teachers and students

In response to rising disruption to schooling across the country, Cluey Learning is releasing guidance for parents, teachers and students to help navigate online learning during this uncertain period. The free guidance will focus on maintaining continuity of learning and is available on Cluey’s blog and via a webinar series which will commence next Monday 23rd March 2020.

The online tutoring service has delivered over 50,000 online learning sessions for Australian school students via its interactive online platform. Cluey is also an ongoing support to hundreds of homeschool parents across the country.

Chief Learning Officer at Cluey Learning, Dr. Selina Samuels, says her biggest concern for teachers and parents facing disruption is maintaining learning momentum for students.

“Many schools are already flagging the challenges represented by serving the needs of their students remotely. There is the more obvious issue of access to the appropriate technology and then comes the necessary skillset to deploy it effectively. Plus adapting what works in the classroom to an online environment isn’t always easy. These point to a potential issue of learning inequity that has not been fully anticipated or provided for.”

“As Australia starts to grapple with deploying effective online learning, we’re readying ourselves to share fast, useful and effective guidance from our deep experience in this space. We’ll be releasing advice in line with the ever-changing situation.”

Cluey Learning is also set to increase tutor recruitment in response to customer demand for online learning support.

Dr Samuels (qualifications: BA (Hons), LLB, PhD, MEd) is available to discuss:

  • How parents can structure the online school day at home
  • How to support students and reduce impact on external assessments
  • How to keep students engaged in a digital learning environment
  • Key tips for creating online learning content
  • Providing tailored student feedback outside the conventional classroom
