Announcement posted by Anixter 24 Oct 2002
Anixter International Inc. (NYSE:AXE), a leading global distributor of data communications products, today announced it has signed a strategic agreement with NetBotz Inc., a global provider of intelligent monitoring solutions for critical assets and spaces.
Under the agreement, Anixter will stock and distribute the NetBotz monitoring solution, which helps medium and large enterprises reduce business downtime, improve response-to-resolution time and eliminate the need to tap already scarce resources to oversee monitoring of key equipment and spaces.
With Netbotz, Anixter will be able to address the concerns of Australian businesses that are increasingly looking to cost effectively and productively monitor their key technical and production environments and assets. Close to 1,500 businesses currently use the NetBotz monitoring solution, and this agreement signals the growing importance that monitoring solutions have to enterprises globally.
Downtime costs for technical and production environments in businesses can typically run anywhere from $20,000 to $200,000 or more each hour, prompting businesses to turn to distributors such as Anixter for an affordable solution that significantly reduces this impact on the bottom line.
Our data centre and telecommunications customers look to us as a source of high performance products that help them run competitive organisations, said Wayne Bogart, Anixters Vice President for Sales in Asia Pacific. Adding NetBotz to our portfolio of offerings tells our more than 80,000 customers worldwide we understand the urgency of providing innovative protection solutions for both their capital investments and ultimately, their businesses.
Companies now understand that inadequate protective monitoring is jeopardising the huge investments they have made in assets and spaces, said Tom Goldman, president and CEO of NetBotz. Were delighted Anixter has turned to us to provide their customers with our proven solution.

The NetBotz Solution
The NetBotz solution enables enterprises to monitor the conditions that impact critical assets and spaces-temperature, humidity, vibration, leak detection and even unauthorised access-from a remote location through the Internet. Capable of scaling to an entire network via NetBotz Central software, NetBotz provides centralised monitoring, configuration and trend analysis capabilities, plus retention of alerts and captured surveillance clips.
Key components of the NetBotz solution include:
Wall or rack mounted Network Appliances, the WallBotz and RackBotz, which monitor the environment and provide early warnings of conditions that can lead to network failure.
NetBotz add-on software applications that enhance the base monitoring capabilities of the NetBotz appliances, including NetBotz Device Crawlers, which monitor individual pieces of equipment; NetBotz Surveillance, which tracks and monitors anyone who enters a NetBotz space; and NetBotz Branch Checker, which monitors round trip connectivity from a branch to the central site.
Support for an array of external sensors and dry contact devices that add to the functionality of the NetBotz solution, including AMP Detector, which offers electric current monitoring capabilities; and NetBotz Last Call, code blue dial and page alerting if power or networking connectivity is lost.
Server-based software, NetBotz Central, which enables users to access, control and configure the NetBotz solution via the Web.
