Solar Attachment Technology Now Available in Australia

S-5! Voted #1 Technical Session at the Smart Energy Conference

(Colorado Springs, Colorado, – March 18, 2020)  S-5!the world’s leading authority on metal roof attachment solutions, today announced it was voted best in session by attendees earlier this month at Melbourne’s Smart Energy Conference.
Dustin Haddock, vice president of research and development for S-5!, presented as part of the Smart Energy Technical Workshop series facilitated by solar industry expert, Geoff Bragg, chairman of the Australian Solar Energy Industries Association and director of the Smart Energy Council.

In his technical training session, Haddock outlined the latest attachment technology for solar panels on both standing seam and exposed-fix metal roofs. He discussed the structural considerations for rooftop PV, namely load distribution and designing a PV system in a similar fashion to the roof design.

Haddock introduced S-5!’s  PVKIT 2.0, which enables solar installers to mount solar panels directly onto S-5!’s clamps and brackets. The PVKIT’s pre-assembled components reduce installation time and cost for PV mounting, eliminating the need for an elaborate rail system, while also providing better load distribution into the roof and substructure.

S-5! has two main distributors in Australia. Based out of Sydney,  Rapid Systems Solutions (RSS), owned by the No. 1 Roofing and Building Supplies and  MAK Fastener Specialists, Pty Ltd., in Melbourne offer a variety of S-5! products.

“We have been working with S-5! to increase awareness in the solar and HVAC market of the huge unique benefits of S-5! direct to metal roof solar, HVAC, and other device mounting solutions,” said Matt Hennessy of RSS. In addition to the competitive material costs, S-5! offers sizeable savings in labour, transport, warehousing and an average of 84% weight savings.”

S-5! attachment solutions can be found on some of the world’s largest buildings such as Apple Inc.’s corporate headquarters (Apple Park) and Google’s corporate headquarters (Googleplex). And, S-5! is no stranger to Australia.

The  S-5-E Mini Clamps can be found on Costco roofs in Australia and throughout the world. To date, the S-5-E Mini Clamps are securing the solar arrays on the roofs of Costco– North Lakes (QLD), Costco – Adelaide (SA), Costco – Oakdale (NSW), Costco – Marsden Park (NSW) and Costco – Casula (NSW).

The S-5-E Mini is a medium-duty, non-penetrating, seam clamp featuring one setscrew. The mini is the choice for attaching rooftop accessories including solar arrays, signage, rooftop walkways, satellite dishes, antennas, rooftop lighting, lightning protection systems, exhaust stack bracing, conduit, condensate lines and mechanical equipment.

"We are excited to be utilizing S-5!’s solar roof attachment solutions in Australia,” said David McDonald of MAK Fastener Specialists, a distributor of S-5! products. “We have used S-5! products on projects in the U.S.A., Ireland and the U.K., and our customers are very happy with the results."

“The feedback from clients thus far has been outstanding, and we have processed a mountain of inquiries,” said Hennessy. “In HVAC and solar, S-5! will soon become the standard metal roof mounting system, just like it is in many countries around the world. Why? Because the benefits above are so compelling – this is the disruptor “aka Uber” for the metal roof mounting industry.”
