The Facts:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition which impacts how someone views the world. People with ASD can experience difficulties with communication, social interaction and restricted/repetitive interest and behaviours.
- Someone with Autism is 160 times more likely to die of drowning than those without autism[1].
- More than 50% of individuals with ASD have a propensity to wander[2] (it’s also very common in individuals with dementia).
- In Australia, statistics indicate that an estimated 1 in 70 people are on the Autism Spectrum[3].
- Autism diagnoses has increased 1150% since 1995[4]
