Boomi powers University of Canberra’s ‘one-stop-shop’ for students

The University integrated digital student services within one platform so students can focus on learning and become more engaged

Sydney, Australia – April 16, 2020 – Boomi, a Dell Technologies business, today announced that the University of Canberra (UC) has tapped Boomi to power its Digital Student Journey (DSJ) program, which enhances students’ online experiences and supports students throughout their academic life and beyond. With Boomi, students can access a “one-stop-shop” of services, giving them greater control of their university experience and empowering them to focus on their studies rather than the administration of university attendance.

The tertiary education environment can be challenging for students to navigate, especially as they first enter university. To help students adapt and thrive, UC modernised the way it handles interactions from first enquiry through to enrolment, commencement, graduation, and alumnus. Rather than viewing these as single events, the University wanted to contextualise all engagements within one application.

To achieve this, UC implemented the unified Boomi platform to integrate all digital student services – hosted across multiple clouds and on-premises – so that data pertaining to university life, including calendars, course information and results, is available to students in real-time. Students were and continue to be involved in the project as the University expands its repertoire of services.

“Through the DSJ program, UC aims to provide an environment that will enrich students’ lives with an intuitive, contextual experience that puts them in control of their learning needs,” said Kate Robertson, IT Project Manager at UC. “The Boomi platform is critical in meeting this objective – it connects key applications and data sources that students need every day, therefore enabling the technology that humanises learning and anticipates student needs. In addition to academic outcomes, DSJ also keeps students up-to-date with the wider campus by flagging events and other community initiatives, which is a big part of the environment we strive to provide.”

UC selected Boomi for its modern and low-code design, making it easy to use, yet powerful enough to manage UC’s complex environment of cloud-based and on-premises applications. With Boomi’s pre-built APIs, UC has deployed more than 65 integrations, connecting to 12 different systems.

UC is also using Boomi to personalise digital services by integrating Adobe Audience Manager, Dynamics CRM and the Callista student management system so that students receive information specific to their requirements.

“The Australian higher education sector is seeing significant evolution, with the nation’s educators eager to use advanced technologies to improve student life whether they are studying on campus or remotely,” said Nicholas Lambrou, Managing Director Australia and New Zealand at Boomi. “With Boomi, educators can connect their technology investments and better share information with students via a modern application, which gives learners a brand new experience as they complete their studies and move into the fast-changing workforce.”
