Powershop has launched its latest ‘Power It Forward’ campaign to support identified small business customers impacted by COVID-19.

Powershop has launched its latest ‘Power It Forward’ campaign to support identified small business customers impacted by COVID-19. The unique fund is built by the Powershop community, for the Powershop community. Contributions raised from Powershop and its customers will go to Powershop’s small businesses as they rebuild after the pandemic restrictions.

The fund aims to raise a total of $250,000 from a combination of customer contributions and contributions from Powershop. Powershop has contributed an initial $50,000 to the fund, and customer contributions will be dollar matched to the value of $100,000. The fund was launched on Thursday 21 May and has already raised over $70,000. Eligible small businesses will receive a credit likely to be between $100-$200 on their electricity bills - equal to around one month of average power usage.

In the coming weeks, the Powershop team will be checking in on their small business customers to offer tailored advice about accessing available support if they need it.

Beyond Power It Forward, Powershop has a range of support options available to customers impacted by COVID-19. Including flexible and extended payment terms and arrangements, tailored payment plans, access to Powershop’s relief offer and access to additional government and non-government assistance programs. Powershop also offers information and tools to assist customers in lowering their energy costs.

Powershop CEO, Jason Stein said

“We are so proud to have a community of Powershop customers who, even when facing challenging times themselves, want to support small businesses.

“We wanted to do something together with our customers, to help those who have been most affected by COVID-19. The Power It Forward program has been designed to support the community connection between our customers and it’s just one way we can provide some relief for small businesses that are on the road to recovery.

“One of our guiding values as a business is to support our community and this is something our customers value too. It’s why we run Christmas campaigns that feature our small business customers and it’s how we raised $185,000 collectively with our customers to help our bushfire impacted customers earlier this year.”
