Announcement posted by StorageTek 15 May 2003
StorageTek (Storage Technology Corp., NYSE:STK), the storage services and solutions expert, has appointed David Cowell to the new position of Principal Consultant, Data Centre Services, Asia Pacific Region.
In this new Melbourne-based role, David is responsible for ensuring that StorageTek's Data Centre Services consulting team recommend and deliver services solutions which help StorageTek's clients in the Asia Pacific region gain maximum benefit from their data centre investments.
StorageTek's Data Centre Services - part of the company's Global Services Business Unit - specialises in environmental and project services in and around the data centre. These include data centre consolidations and relocations, data centre infrastructure projects, such as asset, cable and environmentals management, data migrations between different vendors' platforms and media migrations from one storage media type to another.
"StorageTek's Data Centre Services provides a single point of contact and manages all aspects of our customers' data centre projects - not just storage," said David. "Our services are vendor independent. Some of our customers do not have any StorageTek equipment on the floor whatsoever."
"David Cowell is a key addition to StorageTek's Global Services team in the Asia Pacific region," said Philip Belcher, Managing Director for StorageTek Australia / New Zealand. "With more than 25 years of experience and know-how in this region, StorageTek Global Services delivers services and support that maximise business availability and business value associated with organisations' data centres."
David has over 24 years IT infrastructure experience in roles including Data Centre Manager, Infrastructure Services Manager and Operations Manager. Most recently, he held two infrastructure project management contract positions with the Victorian Government. Previously, David was employed in senior infrastructure management positions at CSC and GE Capital IT Solutions.
David has managed MVS, Unix, NT/W2K, desktop and network environments and performed line and technical project management roles. In addition, he has held vendor roles in solution design and service delivery management.
David is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute and is a CompTIA IT Project + Certified Professional.
