InFocus Infuses Energy into the Classroom with Learn Big

Announcement posted by InFocus 31 May 2006

The students whisper and giggle as their instructor powers up her laptop but within seconds they grow silent. At the front of the classroom, gripping footage of the 1989 student protests at Tiananmen Square is projected in life size detail as the students witness the power of a single protestor in vivid detail. Using a new Learn Big education projector from InFocus (Nasdaq: INFS), the industry pioneer, educators are empowered to interact with the class, unencumbered by chalk, markers or wasteful handouts.
Today, InFocus introduces the newest projectors in the Learn Big education portfolio, carefully designed for ease of use, reliability, and outstanding visual performance. Anyone who has used a mobile phone or microwave is prepared to use the new IN24 and IN26 digital projectors.
Based on the rock solid reliability of InFocus' award-winning X2 and X3 projectors, the new InFocus Learn Big IN24 and IN26, featuring SVGA and XGA resolution, fill a screen or a wall with bright, vivid and crisp images, capturing every detail of a multimedia lesson or presentation. Whether it's a gripping documentary, online news video clips, maps of far-away places or a spreadsheet of intricate data, InFocus projectors amplify every learning experience.
Extra credit is due for an eye-pleasing form factor that blends into a school library, classroom or the most important school board meeting. After listening to educators, who have long been big fans of projection technology, InFocus incorporated several consumer-driven features into the IN24 and IN26. The projectors are the first in the category to incorporate an LED instant feedback display to communicate with end-users and also include a new, recessed lens to protect the most delicate component of this workhorse technology. And who wouldn't give an A+ grade to a crystal clear display up to 20 feet diagonal?
"InFocus' innovation is hard at work in the Learn Big portfolio," said Scott Ballantyne, chief marketing officer, InFocus. "With its long lamp life, ease of use, and flexibility in the classroom, the Learn Big product line reaffirms InFocus' heritage as a company that gives the big picture experience to students and educators, delivering the best technology at an affordable price."
The immense power to convey information packed inside this small, 2.6kg portable device is extremely affordable. Each providing 3,000 hours of use before a replacement lamp is needed, the Learn Big IN24 and IN26, priced at $1,350 and $1,699 respectively, are smart decisions, providing a complete presentation solution - even for institutions on a tight budget.
With extreme keystoning capabilities for tricky angles, the Learn Big projectors are perfect for almost any educational environment. The new technology also allows for quiet operation, with great brightness at 1,700 lumens, and unlike many projectors, all inputs connect on the same panel, for the convenience of educators. Capable of 4:3 (native) or 16:9 aspect ratios, the Learn Big projectors switch gracefully between video and data content with a brilliant 2000:1 contrast ratio. In addition, they connect easily to nearly any device including computers, DVD players, satellite receivers and more. Both the IN24 and IN26 feature the sleeve bearing colour wheel for quieter performance, and a newly designed remote control to meet customer's primary needs.
InFocus Learn Big includes the latest Texas Instruments DLP(digital light processing chip), the benchmark for video projection. The video image is capable of displaying more than 16 million colours. Additionally, InFocus Learn Big projectors have tremendous connectivity with VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA and Macintosh computers, as well as up to 1080i video compatibility.
With the introduction of Learn Big, educators can concentrate on what matters the most, the students, and let InFocus Learn Big do the rest.
