Powershop supports Victorian hospitality workers and businesses

Today Powershop is pleased to announce support for the Victorian hospitality sector:
- An immediate credit equivalent to approximately one month of electricity usage for all of our Victorian bars, restaurants and cafe customers; and
- A $200 credit towards residential energy for any Victorian hospitality worker that joins Powershop.
Thanks to the generosity of our customers through our Power It Forward campaign, Powershop have raised almost $200,000 in the past month, to go towards supporting small businesses as they recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
Given the extended restrictions announced this week in Victoria, the hospitality sector has been further delayed in their reopening, or restricted to increasing capacity meaning they continue to incur costs such as rent and utilities whilst they are unable to maximise their revenue.
Jason Stein, CEO Powershop Australia said:
“Due to circumstances beyond their control Victorian hospitality business owners are doing it really tough. One way we can make a difference is to help lower their operating costs by providing electricity bill relief and we are so pleased to announce that all Victorian Powershop customers who operate a bar, restaurant or cafe will receive a credit on their account which is approximately equivalent to one month’s usage.
“This is made possible by the support of our Powershop customers who have contributed to the fund by choosing the Power It Forward powerpack when they pay their bills. We know our customers will back the decision we've made in the last 24 hours to support our Victorian hospitality customers.
“We are also offering a $200 credit to any Victorian hospitality worker who switches to Powershop, recognising that shifts are few and far between. As a business we believe that if we can help, we should.”
