Fusion Broadband expands global reach with new UK office

Announcement posted by WMC PR 03 Jul 2020

Fusion Broadband to build Managed Service Provider partnerships to target share of $US478M UK SD-WAN market

Australia's leading SD-WAN provider, Fusion Broadband, has launched an office in the UK, which will spearhead sales of its unique SD-WAN services to the UK and Europe.

The business will be led by former BT Global Services solution architect Andrew Catchpole, who becomes chief executive of Fusion Broadband UK Limited.

The expansion is part of its broader worldwide growth with offices also in Johannesburg, South Africa and Manilla in the Philippines. The company has more than 300 resellers globally including North America, Europe and South East Asia.

The UK office is located at the Innovation Martlesham Technology Hub at Adastral Park near Ipswich in Suffolk.

Fusion Broadband's SD-WAN (Software Defined Wide Area Network) and bandwidth aggregation services have been used to solve business connectivity and SD-WAN networking challenges for 10 years.

Managing director of Fusion Broadband, Jason Maude, said the UK team will build the business servicing customers headquartered in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.

“The UK company will also strike deals with UK managed service providers and jointly take our SD-WAN services to market.”

Fusion Broadband is Australia's most popular SD-WAN provider with customers as diverse as two-site SMEs to two thousand site enterprise deployments in sectors including financial services, government, schools, large corporates and small businesses.

Market research firm P&S Intelligence estimates that revenues for the UK SD-WAN market could reach $US478M by 2023.

“UK businesses and government organisations are currently paying through the nose for expensive MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) networks to link up their headquarters, branch offices and remote workers,” says Fusion Broadband UK's Andrew Catchpole.

“Working with Managed Service Provider partners, we plan to change that and help customers connect ‘cloud-first’ to much better, more resilient and easier to manage services at a significantly lower price.”

SD-WAN services have proven hugely popular in Australia, South Africa and South-East Asia where customers are benefiting from much better and faster connectivity, reduced downtime and improved business application performance.

Through Fusion Broadband’s offering, these benefits are now available throughout the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe to help keep organisations and their employees securely connected to critical cloud-based business tools, wherever they are.

The shift from enterprise data centres to the cloud is driving a big change in business networking requirements. One of SD-WAN's chief features is the ability to manage multiple connections from MPLS to broadband to mobile and now 5G.

Fusion Broadband's SD-WAN service is built on IBM Cloud technology, with more than 48 points of presence around the world connected to IBM's high-speed backbone. Its infrastructure has already been deployed in IBM's London data centres and will expand into IBM's European data centres as required. Earlier this year, Fusion Broadband became proud winners of the 2020 IBM Beacon Award.

The company’s technology enables resellers and MSPs to securely connect their clients' different sites to the cloud. It offers a connectivity agnostic service, which can link fixed-line broadband and direct internet access (DIA), as well as 4G and new 5G mobile broadband data services to provide a ‘100% connected service’.

Fusion Broadband's key differentiation is its intelligent cloud technology, which can detect application performance issues or degradation, allowing it to re-route data services within less than 300 milliseconds, before the customer even notices any application performance problems.
