Syncdocs protects Google Drive from Hackers

Announcement posted by Syncdocs 25 Aug 2020

End to end encryption adds an extra layer of protection to Google Drive

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) is helping scientists making a COVID-19 vaccine. ASIO is preventing their research from being stolen. In July, the United States Justice Department accused the Chinese Government of hacking firms developing vaccines.

Phishing attacks against scientists’ data stored in the Google cloud systems have also highlighted the need for security in depth.

When data are protected by a single access password, anyone gaining permissions can access everything. This can be prevented by encrypting the data at-rest.

Protect Google Drive

Australian developed Syncdocs is the first solution to provide fully automatic end-to-end encryption for Google Drive.

Google currently only encrypts the Google Drive data while in transit, not at rest. That means anyone who can hack the Google account, or a Google G-Suite administrator can access your Google Drive files. It is also all too easy to mistakenly share a file.

Syncdocs is different: it encrypts Google Drive files locally, before they ever leave your PC, Mac or phone. Files and folders are securely protected in the cloud with military-strength AES256 encryption.
