New customised UPS solution secures prominent shopping centre in WA
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - Eaton and certified partner Natural Power Solutions (NPS) have teamed up to design a customised power management solution for an automated vehicle bollard security system at a prominent shopping centre in Western Australia.

Integrating with a carpark security system that prevents unauthorised vehicle access, the customised Eaton 9SX UPS solution will pave the way for further opportunities in the growing security market.

Mark Sewell, Managing Director, Natural Power Solutions said: “Physical security is a top priority for public places such as shopping centres, particularly at vehicle access points and entryways. Owners and operators continue to invest in automated solutions that provide real-time visibility and reliability – with back-up power a critical component in maintaining 24/7 protection.”

Working at Eaton’s Late Point Definition Centre in Sydney, Eaton engineers customised the solution with four modular Eaton 9SX 15/20KVA uninterrupted supply (UPS) systems in ExoCab Outdoor Enclosures.

“There was physically no space for the equipment inside the carpark, so we needed to design a ruggedised outdoor solution that would meet the unique height specifications.

“The 9SX 15/20KVA UPS offered a compact modular solution that is scalable, energy efficient and reliable, with zero transfer time to battery and continuous filtering of power. While the marine-grade aluminium and stainless steel ExoCab Outdoor Enclosures delivered IP54 rated protection to withstand harsh outdoor conditions.

“The success of this project will allow us to deploy similar solutions for a broad range of security applications.”

John Atherton, General Manager of Power Quality ANZ said: “We congratulate the NPS team on the successful deployment of this power quality solution for the growing security sector.

“This project shows the value of partnering to locally customise systems and therefore reducing the need for on-site integration, while ensuring reliable power to critical infrastructure designed to protect people and businesses.”

The Eaton 9SX UPS provides stable power for critical IT infrastructure, as well as for industrial, manufacturing, and medical devices. Other 9SX UPS features include:

  • Energy Efficient: Double conversion efficiency of up to 96 per cent, significantly reducing power consumption and can deliver 15/20kW of three phase power.
  • Design: Compact design offering flexibility to meet a variety of deployment requirements where aesthetics is important.
  • Reliable: With zero transfer time to battery, continuous filtering of power, and an internal, automatic static bypass, the 9SX ensures performance and compatibility.
