Dent and Schiff agree on a lot of things including the facts that because the world’s governments have been printing trillions of dollars for over a decade and now massively more during the pandemic, there will be the greatest financial crisis of all time. Stocks will crash 80% , the crash will be bigger than the 1929 great depression and far worse than the GFC, which both Dent and Schiff correctly forecast.
They vehemently DISAGREE and argue over the future of Gold the US$ and Bonds. Schiff believes Gold will go up and is a safe haven for the future, the US Dollar and Bonds will crash. Dent disagrees and says the opposite that Gold will crash and the US$ and Bonds will rise.
Peter Schiff says “I’m bullish on Gold. Harry is bearish. I’m bearish on the US$ and bearish on Bonds, Harry is bullish on both. I think Harry Dent is wrong and if he is wrong then people who follow him will get financially wiped out. If he is right, then they will still make money following me.”
Harry Dent says “Peter Schiff is talking things already proven not to happen after unprecedented money printing. He believes Gold will go to $5,000+, he believes the US$ will go into a substantial decline, that there will be massive inflation that turns into hyperinflation from the great crash and crisis ahead. We both see a major crisis imminently, but stocks crashing are the only thing we agree on. I see you losing money shorting the US dollar and even buying more gold! Gold will deflate to around $1,000 and silver down to $10 or lower. I see the dollar rising 30%+ vs the other major currencies, as it did in the worst of the GFC in the second half of 2008. I see a major real estate crash as it hates deflation the most. Inflation affects most investments very differently from deflation, which is simply the unwinding of the debt and financial asset bubble that caused the financial crisis in the first place... everything goes down except the best bonds and currencies.”
