St. Bernard Software, Inc. (OTCBB: SBSW), a global provider of security solutions for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), today announced that it has opened its first Australian office, headed up by industry veteran, Robert Harkness. The office, located at Chatswood in Sydney’s northern business district, will provide both sales and engineering support for and customers.

“This expansion into comes at a great time for our customers, employees and investors,” said Vince Rossi, president and CEO at St. Bernard Software. “As the only provider of appliance, software and on-demand security services for the SME market, St. Bernard is uniquely positioned to provide true industry-leading choice to Australian customers. We are committed to serving the needs of the Australian market, and are supporting our efforts with a full range of secure content management solutions that meet the specific needs of small and medium sized enterprise customers.”

“This is a very exciting time for St. Bernard Software and I’m delighted to be joining such a dynamic company with excellent products and a clear vision for the future in the region,” said Mr. Harkness. “The company is well positioned to execute on a variety of strategic initiatives that will positively impact its customers and grow the company’s presence within the SME security industry.”

Mr Harkness joins St. Bernard with more than 25 years in the IT industry, where he was heavily involved in the network security channel. Harkness has worked at companies such as Lan1 and Avnet, and in 1996, launched Dovetail Distribution, a niche Value Added Distributor (VAD) focused on the dynamic, rapidly growing Internet security demands of the SME community in the Australian market. Harkness has also established Australasian offices for US based vendors in previous roles and has proven success in working with both the Vendor and the Channel.

St. Bernard to Target the Education Sector
Mr. Harkness said the Australian education market is a key focus for St. Bernard Software, as the company’s award-winning Internet filtering appliance, iPrism, offers unparalleled ease-of-use, accuracy and value as key advantages into the educational community.

“One of our priorities will be to provide a ’clean‘ Internet connection for Kindergarten to Year 12 school students,” Harkness continued. “Current solutions seem to be deficient, either in the way they block access to inappropriate websites, in their complexity of management, or simply their cost of ownership.  St. Bernard’s 100% human reviewed classification of websites ensures we neither over-block nor under-block web site access.”
