Kylie Gibson, Director of Synergy Sleep, a ThreeBestRated® award-winning sleep clinic in Brisbane, gives tips to get better sleep

Synergy Sleep has won the 2021 ThreeBestRated® award one of the top rated sleep clinics in Brisbane.
Sleep is the way our body recharges itself, both physically and mentally. But the number of people with sleep problems is dangerously high, and it just keeps increasing every day.

"Humans are the only species on the planet to invent things that suppress our sleep drive (think lightbulb, caffeine, TV, etc..,) and our health has deteriorated ever since," says Kylie Gibson. Kylie is the Managing Director of Synergy Sleep Clinic, a ThreeBestRated® award-winning sleep clinic in Brisbane.

And we asked her to explain the effects of poor sleep and give tips to get better sleep. 


"Sleep is the foundation of good health, and there is not one single biological function of the body or brain that is not impaired if we do not get enough," she says. Poor sleep health leads to a multitude of chronic health conditions, including heart disease, depression, diabetes, impotence, and increases the chances of cancer, heart attack and stroke by up to 70%.


Five tips to get better sleep:


Below are some of the tips from Kylie to get better sleep at night:


  1. Avoid UV light several hours prior to bedtime and try not to stimulate the brain with work, laptops or smartphones.

  2. Sleep in a clean, dark and cool room under 24 degrees.

  3. Do not eat less than 2 hours before bed.

  4. Avoid caffeine and stimulants after lunchtime.

  5. Maintain a regular sleep pattern (going to bed and rising at the same time each day)


About Kylie Gibson - Synergy Sleep:


"I had been employed in health for quite a while when I stumbled across Sleep Apnea treatments in 2004 and have been passionate about this serious health condition ever since," says Kylie. She completed her Grad Cert in sleep science at the University of WA.


"Before opening Synergy Sleep, I had identified a failure within the profession to service and supply adequate and affordable home-based sleep studies and treatment (if required) on time. If appropriately diagnosed elsewhere, patients were not being supported or educated and left to flounder with a serious health condition they did not understand," she explains.

This motivated her to introduce a service that did not previously exist based on industry standards and guidelines. " We were pivotal in lifting the bar for Sleep Clinics to offer a more comprehensive and ethical service and are accredited with the Sleep Health Foundation," she further adds.

Synergy Sleep offers home-based bulk-billed sleep studies in the familiar environment of your own home and bed. "We support the sleep study with a rhino exam to measure nasal resistance, and we are open six days a week," she says.


Kylie is proud of their well-qualified staff. "All of our staff are clinically trained with backgrounds in health and science. They are crucial to the success of our clinic, and the rapport they have with our patients is remarkable," she says.
