Announcement posted by Writers Who 22 Feb 2021
During the 2020 year, equity markets were highly volatile, resulting in a particularly difficult investment environment. The benefits for investors in the ORAH Fund were clearly illustrated during this period, with the Fund not only generating returns that were 7.4% in excess of it’s equity market benchmark - but also by achieving this result with significantly less volatility.
Since its formation 4 years ago, the ORAH Fund has now generated charitable contributions in excess of $1.19 million.
ORAH Co-founder Carole Pillemer said, “the past year was a watershed period for ORAH. Not only did the Fund cross the $1m mark in charitable donations, but it also proved to investors the value of having their savings invested with the exceptional fund managers that manage the ORAH Fund’s underlying portfolio”.
“We are very pleased that ORAH has been able to generate significant amounts for Jewish related charities over a relatively short period of time – and in particular, to be able to step-up the amount of donations during the difficult economic conditions caused by Covid-19.”
The ORAH Fund is unique in that potential investors in ORAH do not actually make these donations, but simply enable the donations by investing in a high-quality investment fund. The charitable donations are derived solely from the generous support of the underlying fund managers who have agreed to donate all fees which would otherwise be due to them for services provided. The donations therefore do not in any way dilute the investment returns to investors.
ORAH’s fund managers include Centennial Asset Management Level 18 Fund, Hyperion Global Growth Companies Fund, L1 Capital Australian Equities Fund, L1 Capital Long Short Fund, Macquarie Professional Series Global Equity Fund, Pengana Australian Equities Fund, Pengana Global Small Companies Fund, Pengana International Fund, Pengana Alpha Israel Fund, Wentworth Williamson, and Yarra Australian Equities Fund.
“ORAH is an asset belonging to the Jewish community with the potential to generate millions of dollars each year to contribute to so many worthwhile causes. However, in order for ORAH to fulfil its potential, the size of the Fund needs to grow by attracting additional investors. Hopefully now, with 4 years track record under our belt, more members of the community will take note of the progress of ORAH, and will invest.”
